Marymount Single Member Constituency

The Marymount Single Member Constituency is a single member constituency (SMC) located in the central area of Singapore formed in 2020. The current Member of Parliament (MP) is Gan Siow Huang of the People's Action Party (PAP).[1]

History

Marymount is a new SMC carved out as a new electoral boundary and used to be part of the Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC. Marymount SMC includes Bishan North, Sin Ming and Shunfu estate from Bishan East-Thomson division were also carved into the new constituency which will reduce the size of the Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC from five to four seats.

Josephine Teo the previous MP for Bishan North declined that she will contest the SMC in the 2020 Singapore general election. PAP's new candidate Gan Siow Huang defeated Progress Singapore Party (PSP) candidate Ang Yong Guan with a vote count of 55.04% vs 44.96% in the 2020 Singapore general election which made her the MP of the new constituency.

Marymount SMC is managed by the Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council.
