Muthuzhagu (TV series)

Muthazhagu is a 2021 Indian-Tamil language family drama television series, starring Shobana, Aashish Chakravarthi, Anand Babu, Lakshmi, Shanthi and Mahesh Subramaniam.[1][2][3] The main plot of the story is taken from Star Maa's Telugu serial Devatha - Anubandhala Alayam. The show was premiered on 15 November 2021, and airs on Star Vijay and is also available on the digital platform Disney+ Hotstar.

Plot

The story of a village young girl and dynamic at the same time economically underprivileged girl named Muthazhagu. She lives with her father, stepmother, and siblings in a village. Despite her prevailing status, she does her best to make her family feel comfortable, sacrificed, and happy with her own desires. Muthazhagu has a stepmother and siblings in a village. Muthazhagu belongs to a poor family and often sacrifices her desires to make others happy. Bhoominathan, a well-off young boy, meets Muthazhagu. Bhoominathan's mother likes Muthazhagu a lot and appreciates her a lot. She wants to help Muthazhagu, who has been facing a lot of hardship in her life. Muthazhagu and Bhoominathan's lifestyle and ambition don't match. Despite their differences, the young couple gets married.

    Release

    The first promo was unveiled on 19 October 2021, featuring protagonists Shobana, Aashish Chakravarthi, and Lakshmi Vasudevan. The second promo was unveiled on 9 November 2021, featuring the protagonists, and revealing the release date. The first episode aired on 15 November 2021 from Monday to Saturday at 3:30 pm and streamed at Disney+ Hotstar.

    Casting

    Newcomer Aashish Chakravarthi, winner of Mr. Chennai International 2019 selected to play a male lead who made his television debut in Suryavamsam (2020-2021) in Zee Tamil, Shobhana was chosen to play the role of Muthazhagu by making her debut as she completed her graduation as Electronics and Communication Engineer (ECE). Lakshmi Vasudevan was chosen for her acting in various serials as the main villain. Previously, Falcon Television Media was working with Colors Tamil. In October 2021, it was said Star Maa's Devatha would be remade in Tamil.[6]
