Starting in 2001, 105.5 was the original home of WVKF, a CHR station under the Kiss-FM brand, until the format moved to 95.7 in 2004. After Kiss-FM moved, 105.5 flipped to Classic Hits as "Kool 105.5" under the WUKL call letters.

On August 12, 2021, the station cluster was sold from Forever Media to Ohio Midland Newsgroup LLC, along with WBGI-FM, WLIE(WLYV), and WRQY, for $1,250,000 along with the sale of Translator W235BX.[1]

On December 28, 2021, it was announced that WUKL and WBGI-FM would swap formats on January 3, 2022, at 5:30 a.m. The swap will see the classic hits format move to 100.5 as a revived "WOMP-FM”, and the country format moving to 105.5 as "105.5 Biggie Country", with both stations swapping callsigns before the announcement. However, the WOMP call sign belongs to WOMP-LP, a community radio station in Cambridge, Ohio, which has so far not given permission for the use of the call sign to the West Virginia stations.[2] Ohio Midland Newsgroup however holds the registered trade name to WOMP FM and trademarked logos.
