Early life
Collier grew up in Dallas, Texas and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1972.
He played defensive back for East Texas State University for 4 years, including the 1972 national championship for ETSU (which is now known as Texas A&M-Commerce). Collier's career was one of the 10 players discussed in a 2013 article that tried to identify the best football players in the 80-year history of the ETSU/A&M-Commerce football program.[1]
Professional career
Collier was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 9th round of the 1976 NFL Draft.
During his 8 seasons in the NFL, Collier played cornerback for the Chiefs (1976–1980) as well as the St. Louis Cardinals (1980–1982), and the San Francisco 49ers (1982–1983). He is credited with 15 interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns.[2]
