Sikhism by country

Sikhism can be found predominantly in the Punjab state of India, but Sikh communities exist on every inhabited continent, with the largest total emigrant populations being in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. India is the nation which has the largest percentage of Sikhs as a proportion of the total population, at 1.7%.

The Sikh diaspora and population centers as of 2004[1]

Despite centuries of emigration and a large Punjabi Sikh diaspora of about 3.6 million, as of 2021, the majority of the world's 26.4 million Sikhs live in India, specifically in the East Punjab region (which comprises today's Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, as well as Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh. The East Punjab region is where Sikhism traces its roots back to, beginning in the late 15th century. [2][3][4][5][6]
