The Commandant, Army School of Physical Training was appointed Honorary Secretary of the Board. Later the Sports organizations of the three Services were amalgamated on 3 April 1945 with the approval of the then Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C) and the Services Sports Control Board; India was formed.

Services Teams

The outstanding players/team of the Indian Armed Forces are selected by the SSCB(Services Sports Control Board). These players/teams are fielded and represented as the Services team in the National Games of India. Selected sportspersons from the services also participate in the World Military Games and various other International Sporting events, including the Olympics. The Services has been one of the leading winners in the Indian National Games. Olympics 2020 has seen participation of many Services players representing India.[2]

New Organizational structure

In the year 1947, the Chiefs of Staff Committee had approved the reconstitution of the Services Sports Control Board with an Inter-Services character. Following this, the organizational structure has also undergone some changes. The three services would now run the Services Sports Control Board in rotation for a period of tenure being three years. The tenure involves the change of President and Secretary every three years from each of the three services. The three Joint Secretaries, one each from each Service are for the tenure of four years each. Starting 2020,the administering service is The Indian Airforce. The President and the Secretary are both from the IAF for the current tenure until 2022. [3]

Group Captain Dinesh Suri of the Indian Air Force is the current serving Secretary of the Services sports control board (SSCB), Commencement date of tenure:July 2021. [4]
