Peesh ili luzhesh (Bulgarian: Пееш или лъжеш, English: You sing or lying) is a Bulgarian television mystery music game show that premiered on Nova on 3 November 2016.[1] It is an adaptation of South Korean programme I Can See Your Voice.

Gameplay

Format

Presented with a group of eight "mystery singers" identified only by their occupation, a guest artist must attempt to eliminate bad singers from the group without ever hearing them sing, assisted by clues and a celebrity panel over the course of four rounds. At the end of the game, the last remaining mystery singer is revealed as either good or bad by means of a duet between them and one of the guest artists.[2]

Rewards

If the singer is good, he/she will perform again in the post-season encore concert episode; if the singer is bad, he/she wins 3.000 leva.

Rounds

Each episode presents the guest artist eight people whose identities and singing voices are kept concealed until they are eliminated to perform on the "stage of truth" or remain in the end to perform the final duet.

  1. Visual round
    The guest artist is given some time to observe and examine each mystery singer based on their appearance. Afterward, a muted video of each mystery singer that reveals only 0.3 seconds of their singing voice is played as an additional hint.
  2. Talent round
    The guest artist must describe one of the mystery singer's other talents, except "singing" itself. It may unrelated to the stage of truth, but it depends on the mystery singer's identity.
  3. Lip sync round
    Each mystery singer performs a lip sync to a song. Good singers mime to a recording of their own performance, while bad singers mime to a recording of someone's else.
  4. Interrogation round
    The guest artist can converse and ask questions of one of the remaining mystery singers. As before, good singers must answer truthfully, while bad singers might lie.

Production

Nova Broadcasting Group first announced the development of the series in August 2016. Produced by Global Films, the staff team is managed by producer Magarditch Halvadjian and director Kiril Kirov.[3] Pre-show auditions took place at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.[4]

New Year's Eve Concert (31 December 2016)

The post-season episode was aired on the last day of 2016, featuring all of the winning mystery singers alongside guest artists perform one last time. In the penultimate performance, Rosen Belov made an example of a bad singers turned "good", thus it is the only ICSYV franchise to do so.[17]
