Oleksandr Safronov (Ukrainian: Олександр Олександрович Сафронов; born 11 June 1999) is a Ukrainian professional footballer who plays as a defender for Slovenian Second League club Nafta 1903 (on loan from Desna Chernihiv.

Club career

Safronov is a product of the FC Metalurh Zaporizhia[1] and the FC Dnipro Youth Sportive School systems. In March 2017, he was promoted to the main-team squad of FC Dnipro, but never made debut in the Ukrainian Premier League.

Dnipro-1

In June 2017, Safronov joined the newly-created Dnipro-1. He made his debut for the club as a second-half substitute in a Ukrainian Second League match against Metalist 1925 Kharkiv on 15 July 2017. In January 2020, Safronov moved on loan to Meistriliiga club Levadia Tallinn, where he played 8 games and scored 2 goal in the 2020 season.[2]

Following his stint in Estonia, Safronov returned to Dnipro-1 in Ukraine.[3]

Desna Chernihiv

On 14 July 2021 he signed two years contract with Desna Chernihiv, the main club of Chernihiv in Ukrainian Premier League.[4][5][6] On 14 July 2021 he scored his first goal with the new team in the friendly match against VPK-Ahro at the Stadion Yuri Gagarin.[7] On 25 July 2021, he made his debut in Ukrainian Premier League with the new club against Chornomorets Odesa at the Stadion Yuri Gagarin.[8] On 3 October 2021, he play in Ukrainian Premier League, against Zorya Luhansk, replacing Oleksiy Kovtun at the 46 minute.[9] On 15 November 2021 he played against Olimpik Donetsk in the friendly match at the Bannikov Stadium in Kyiv.[10][11]On 11 February 2022 he was included in the team for the preparation in Turkey for the second half of the season and he played against Velež Mostar in the friendly match.[12]On 17 february he played against Torpedo Kutaisi in a friendly match.[13][14] On 20 February 2022 he played in the friendly match against Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih at the Asteria Football Center in Antalya replacing Denys Bezborodko at the 61 minute.[15][16]

Nafta 1903

On 26 March 2022, Safronov moved on loan to Slovenian club Nafta 1903. Prior to his arrival, he was rumoured to join Spartak Trnava and Zalaegerszeg.[17] On 18 April 2022, he made his debut against Ilirija at the Ilirija Sports Park in Ljubljana.[18][19][20]

International career

On 15 June 2019, Safronov became a world champion by winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup with the Ukraine U20 national team.[21][22]
