It was previously known as the Movement for Democracy (Slovak: Hnutie za demokraciu) between 2002 and 2018, and Voice of the People (Slovak: HLAS ĽUDU) between 2018 and 2021. The current leadership, led by Uhrík and former members of far-right People's Party Our Slovakia, took over the party in March 2021.[4] Historically, the party adhered to a centrist position and was associated with politicians Ivan Gašparovič and Jozef Grapa.

In the 2006 parliamentary election, the party won 0.6% of the popular vote and lost parliamentary representation. It was part of the Alliance for Europe of the Nations from 2002 to 2009.[5][6]
