Minami Hoshino

Minami Hoshino (星野 みなみ, Hoshino Minami, born February 6, 1998) is a former Japanese idol and former actress. She is a former member of Japanese idol group Nogizaka46.[1]

Biography

Early life

Hoshino was born on February 6, 1998, in Chiba Prefecture.[2] She was a member of the track team in junior high school.[3]

Nogizaka46

Hoshino successfully auditioned for the first generation of the idol group Nogizaka46. She debuted with the group's first release (Guruguru Curtain) on February 22, 2012. As of 2020, Hoshino has performed as part of the main selection group on every Nogizaka46 single except for 7th (Barrette) and 8th (Natsu no Free & Easy) singles.

On July 1, 2012, she appeared in the group's first solo commercial with "Kireina Ane" (キレイな姉), AC Japan.[4] With this performance, she was chosen 6th in the "Readers' Choice CM Awards" for Best New Talent ("CM NOW", December 10, 2012, Genkosha), surpassing Nogizaka46 who was 8th in the same category.[5]

On April 10, 2018, her first solo photobook, titled "Itazura" (いたずら), was published. The photos in the book were taken on location in Portugal.[6]

On December 3, 2021, she announced her graduation from Nogizaka46 in February 2022 and will retire from show business afterward.[7]
