Iskandar Puteri City Council

The Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP; Malay: Majlis Bandaraya Iskandar Puteri) is the city council which administrates Iskandar Puteri City in Johor, Malaysia. This agency is under Johor state government. MBIP are responsible for public health and sanitation, waste removal and management, town planning, environmental protection and building control, social and economic development and general maintenance functions of urban infrastructure. The MBIP new headquarters is located at Medini.

History

MBIP in 2019

Formerly known as Majlis Perbandaran Johor Bahru Tengah or Johor Bahru Central Municipal Council with the establishment of 8 Local Councils during the 60s which was under the Town Board Enactment 118. Due to the residents’ growth and increase in asset, on March 1, 1978 Johor Bahru Tengah Municipal was formed under the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171) that covered areas of 104.7 km2 with total residents of 150,000 people. This agency was granted municipal status in 1995.[1]
