Icedancer

Icedancer (sometimes stylized in all caps as ICEDANCER) is the third mixtape by Swedish rapper, singer, and songwriter Benjamin Reichwald, professionally known as Bladee, released on December 29th, 2018 on Trash Island and presented by production collective RipSquad.[1] In an interview with The Fader, Bladee stated that Icedancer was recorded over summer and winter 2018.[2]

Recording

In an interview with The Fader, Reichwald stated that he was recording "a lot of songs" with producer Whitearmor in-between albums. RipSquad repeatedly sent Reichwald instrumentals that he recorded vocals over that eventually came together into Icedancer. In that same interview, Bladee states that Icedancer is a more positive album compared to his prior album Red Light.[2] Icedancer also features Yung Lean, Cartier'God and fellow Drain Gang member Thaiboy Digital on "Inside Out", "Cartier'God Icedancer Intermission" and "Side By Side", respectively.

The final track, "The Silent Boy Cries (Ripsquadd Outro)" is built around a reworked sample of Kazukii's "Design" featuring Dianna Pham, and is the only song on Icedancer to not feature vocals by Reichwald.

Release

Icedancer was released without prior announcement on December 29, 2018 through all streaming services including SoundCloud and Bandcamp.[3][4] Icedancer is the first and only Bladee project to be released through Bandcamp. Many songs on Icedancer have title differences on Bandcamp.
