Horní Pěna

Horní Pěna is a municipality and village in Jindřichův Hradec District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 600 inhabitants. Malíkov nad Nežárkou, a part of Horní Pěna, is well preserved and is protected by law as an village monument zone.

Horní Pěna lies approximately 7 kilometres (4 mi) south-east of Jindřichův Hradec, 44 km (27 mi) east of České Budějovice, and 119 km (74 mi) south of Prague.

The first written mention of Horní Pěna is from 1354.[2]

Sights

In Horní Pěna is the Zoo Na Hrádečku, a small zoo with more than 100 species on an area of 10 hectares (25 acres).[3]
