Hariana
Hariana is a town and a municipal council in Hoshiarpur district in the Indian state of Punjab. Hariana is named after Guru Hari Sen; the guru of the singer Tansen. It was a famous music gharana once. Gujjar Mal Vasudev raagi & Pandit Telu Ram were singers & residents of hariana.

When the mugals entered into India; they made a Quila in a place called Malot nearby Hariana & Hariana was their tehsil at that time.there is also a qila made by mohmd.hussain in Bassi umar khan 2 km away from hariana and in bassi umar khan there is Inami bagh of mango tree which was award for the best mango. The owner of inami bagh was zaildar relatives of mohmd hussain. The city has provided a lot of freedom fighters like Pandit Jagat Ram (Sati Mata Temple Hariana), Lala Lachman Das and Sardar Partap Singh. A famous technical institute is named after freedom fighter Pt. Jagat Ram Hariana as J.R.Govt Polytechnic Hoshiarpur.

Hariana is located at 31.64°N 75.84°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 300 metres (984 feet).
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[2] Hariana had a population of 7813. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Hariana has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 79%, and female literacy is 73%. In Hariana, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. This town is about 100 km from Amritsar International Airport.
