Goverdhan Mehta

Goverdhan Mehta FNA, FASc, FRS, FRSC (born 26 June 1943) is an Indian researcher and chemical scientist.

Career

Mehta received his BSc and MSc from the BITS Pilani[1] and PhD from Pune University.[2] His post-doctoral research was at the Michigan State University under Don Farnum and at the Ohio State University under Paul Gassman (strained polycyclic systems, cyclopopenyl cation).[3] He joined IIT Kanpur. Since 1977, he was Professor of Chemistry at the University of Hyderabad and since 1998 Professor at the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore.[4] He has authored more than 400 research papers. He has received the Trieste prize.[5]

In 2006, the U.S. government refused Mehta a visa; this decision was strongly criticised by Indian and American scientists.[6][7][8][9]
