FC Chernihiv

The date of birth of the new Chernihiv football team of the YSB can be considered June 18, 2003,[2][3] when 11 people in black and yellow uniforms came out on the field of the stadium of the Chernihiv Military Lyceum (former Soviet Chernihiv Military Aviation Higher School of Pilots). It was on this day that the first official game in the history of YSB took place formed by the Ukrainian businessman Yuriy Synytsya. It was a match against the team "Fortuna-Chernihivgaz" in the framework of the Chernihiv Football Championship, and it ended not in favor of our team 0: 2. But then the team's affairs only went up. YSB managed to reach the final four. In the "regiment", the black and yellows won two victories with one defeat and took the final second place in the championship. It was an undoubted success for the young team. In 2006, a key decision was made to expand and develop Chernihiv football. YSB also played for the first time in the championship of Chernihiv district, where the team managed to enter the final four. Also this year came the first futsal victories.

The beginning of 2007 was marked by reaching the final of the Chernihiv region futsal championship. And already in the summer the team took part in the first league of the Chernihiv Oblast Football Championship. In 2008, the team tried its hand for the first time in the Premier League of the Chernihiv region in football and since 2008, the YSB Chernihiv team, has played in the championship of the Chernihiv region.The team performed in the new championship not in the best way, taking 10th place in the standings, but the experience gained was not in vain and already in the city cup of futsal black and yellow took revenge, winning the Chernihiv Cup.

In 2011, the team managed to sign the experienced Georgian defender, Teymuraz Mchedlishvili[4][5] and the club got the silver medal and in 2012 in the Chernihiv Oblast Football Cup[6] and the year later, the club won the competition.[7][8] In 2012 the team won the Chernihiv Oblast Football Cup.[9] In 2014, the team got second in the Chernihiv Oblast Football Championship[10] In 2016 he got to the final of Chernihiv Oblast Football Cup.[11]

In 2017, the new football field Chernihiv Arena was bulted[12] and, the club changed its name to FC Chernihiv and he got 3th in the league.[13][14] The club was included in Ukrainian Football Amateur League in the season 2017–18. In the first season to win silver and in 2018[15][16] and 2019, the team won the Chernihiv Oblast Football Championship.[17][18]

In the final round, the leader of the championship to win the title of the minimum task was not to lose to the main competitor - Koryukov's "Vanguard". However, Chernihiv exceeded the plan for the game. In a difficult confrontation, the "citizens" were able to end the match with a minimal victory 2–1. FC Chernihiv ended up with 10 victories in 10 meetings and left no chances for other teams. Chernihiv residents are the winners of gold medals. Avangard, despite 2 games in reserve, is a silver medalist. But the fate of the bronze medals has not yet been decided. The club of Chernihiv was among the teams have been promoted from the 2019–20 Ukrainian Football Amateur League:[19][20]

Earlier in 2020, FC Chernihiv merged with Avanhard Koriukivka as Chernihiv-Avanhard and kept its original team Chernihiv-YSB during the 2019–20 Ukrainian Football Amateur League.[21][22] During the season Avanhard Koriukivka had more points and even played in post season play-offs. In August 2020 only FC Chernihiv was admitted to the Second League instead of the merged club.[23] In fact the club got a certificate for participation in another way of the Ukrainian Second League for the season 2020–21. For the first time in the entire history, city of Chernihiv will be represented in professional football by two clubs, other one is Desna Chernihiv[24][25] The team was also included in the First Preliminary Round of the Ukrainian Cup facing Nyva Vinnytsia in the season 2020-21[26][27][28] The match was supposed to be played on 29 August 2020 but the match was postponed due to a breakdown of the team's bus.[29]

On 6 September 2020, the team won the first match against in Rubikon Kyiv in a 0-2 (83' Anatoly Kokhanovskyi, 92' Oleksandr Konopko) away on their first match of Ukrainian Second League for the season 2020–21 .[30][31] On the Round 4 Maksym Chaus has been elected the best fair defender and Maksym Serdyuk was elected the best young player on the round.[32] On 23 October 2020 the club signed the experience goalkeeper Anatoliy Tymofeyev[33][34] In November 2020, the central defender of FC Chernihiv Teymuraz Mchedlishvili was included in the eleven players of the round of the Ukrainian Second League.[35] On 21 April 2021 the coach Vadym Postovoy was fired and replaced by Valeriy Chornyi as interim.[36][37] In April 2021 In April the defender Oleksiy Zenchenko, has been included in the whole team of the 19th round of the Ukrainian Second League.[38] In My 2021, Vitaliy Mentey has been elected Best Player of the Round 20 of Ukrainian Second League in the season 2020-21.[39][40] The team managed to get the 10th position in the season 2020–21 and continue in Ukrainian Second League, achieving the best result in its history.[41] In 2021, the club decided to rent some players of Desna 3 Chernihiv the under 19 and Desna 2 Chernihiv the under 21 of Desna Chernihiv.[42]

On 18 August 2021 beat Chaika Petropavlivska Borshchahivka in Ukrainian Cup for the Second preliminary round, getting into the Third preliminary round in the season 2021–22 for the first time in the history of the club.[43][44][45] On 31 August the team lost against Alians Lypova Dolyna in Ukrainian Cup in the season 2021–22.[46][47] In November 2021, Vitaliy Mentey has elected best player of the 20 round of Ukrainian Second League in the season 2021-22.[48][49]On 5 February 2022 was held the first friendly derby match at the Yunist Stadium in Chernihiv, where the club beat Desna Chernihiv for 1-0 with goal of Maksym Serdyuk at the 38 minute of the first half.[50]After the 24 February 2022, due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine and the Siege of Chernihiv the club stop being active on social media for a while the football, and secondly, the problems with the Internet and communication in the region simply did not allow it to be active. On 11 April 2022, the club annunced that they will return to be actively.[51]On 26 April 2022, the players of FC Chernihiv held their first training session at the home stadium since the beginning of the war. Before the lesson, the boys and the staff collected debris that flew to the site, clearing their lawn. Thus, in fact, the whole team took part in the cleaning of the stadium, which will continue. The players who were in the city were joined in the two-sided game by head coach Valeriy Chornyi, goalkeeping coach Artem Padun, team administrator Dmytro Avramenko and Chernihiv Arena director Anatoliy Dudchyk. This training is a real symbol of the revival of Chernihiv, football in our city and Chernihiv tigers, - said in a statement.[52]
