Eastern Theater Command
The Eastern Theater Command is one of the five theater commands of the People's Liberation Army, founded on 1 February 2016. Its predecessor was the Nanjing Military Region. The headquarters is located in Nanjing.[1]

Its jurisdiction includes Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shanghai[1] and the East Sea Fleet.[2] It consists of three group armies:the 72nd Group Army (formerly 1st group army), 71st Group Army (formerly 12th group army), and 73rd Group Army (formerly 31st group army).[3] The ground force headquarter of the Eastern theater command is located in Fuzhou, Fujian, China.[4] The Command's Air Force and Naval Aviation Units includes H-6 long-range bombers and Su-35 fighters[5]
Its commander is General He Weidong and its political commissar is General He Ping.
Excluded from the Eastern Theater Command are the islands of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Lienchiang as these territories are under the jurisdiction of the Republic of China's Armed Forces.
History
On 1 February 2016, the Eastern Theater Command held its inaugural meeting in the Bayi Building in Beijing. he meeting was held concurrently with all of the other newly created theater commands. General Secretary of the CCP and Chairman of the CMC Xi Jinping was in attendance, awarding military flags and issuing the official instructions. CMC Vice Chairman and CCP Politburo Member Fan Changlong read out the orders while CMC Vice Chairman Xu Qiliang presided.

General Staff Department (参谋部) - Under the direction of Lieutenant General Wang Xiubin, Chief of Staff. His Deputy Chiefs of Staff are Major General Lan Zheng (Army), Rear Admiral Guo Yujun (Navy) and Major General Sha Jun (Air Force). Subordinated to the General Staff Department is its Joint Operations Command Center.

Disciplinary Inspection Committee (纪律检查委员会) - (aka the Supervisory Committee) Lead by Lieutenant General Yang Xiaoxiang, Secretary, the role of the Disciplinary Inspection Committee is to conduct surveillance and conduct "disciplinary inspections" on PLASSF members in accordance with Article 68 of the March 2018 "Supervision Law" passed by the 13th National People's Congress. The position of Secretary was originally held by Deputy Political Commissar Lu Jiancheng (2016 - 2019). Subordinated to the Disciplinary Inspection Committee is the Disciplinary Inspection Service.
