History
The known history of the Taluqdars of Rampur Daryabad estate of district Barabanki, Uttar pradesh, India can be traced back to the times of Shershah Suri, when in an attack by Bhad tribe led the massacre of all the family members of ruling Taluqdar family of Prithuraj near their abode at Mehemdabad in the estate. The pregnant wife of Prithuraj somehow escaped from the clutches of the tribals by hiding in the hollow of a Neem tree. The widow of Prithuraj gave birth to a male child who was given the name of Neema Rai by the Brahmin, since he was saved by the Neem tree.
Dr. Rai Rajeshwar Bali OBE was the 13th Taluqdar of Dariyabad. Dariyabad was a taluq in North India and is at present situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh (United Provinces). He was an intellectual reformist. During his lifetime he was the head of the Taluqdar association of Oudh. From 1924 to 1928 he was the education minister of Uttar Pradesh. He was succeeded by his eldest son Rai Dinanath Bali. His only surviving son is Rai Kaushlendra Bali, who lives in New Delhi, India.
It is said that, Dariyabad was founded in 1436 AD and established in 1444 AD. Dariya Khan was posted as viceroy after Sultan Mirza Badshah, and came to Awadh (Lucknow) and stayed in Imperial castle in Mahmudabad. Since this place was famous due to violence by bhad tribe, later viceroy Dariya Khan freed this place by Bhad tribe and named this place as Dariyabad on his own name. But as per some old age seniors and references Dariya Khan was an Officer of Delhi kingdom.
