Career

Carroll attended Lakeside School in Seattle, Washington.[1][2] As a senior in 2019, he hit .540 with nine home runs and a 1.859 OPS.[3] He committed to play college baseball at UCLA.[4]

Carroll was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft.[5][6] He signed for $3.7 million and was assigned to the Arizona League Diamondbacks to make his professional debut.[7][8][9] After batting .291 with two home runs, 14 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases over 31 games, he was promoted to the Hillsboro Hops on August 8.[10] Over 11 games with Hillsboro, he batted .326 with six RBIs.[11]

Carroll did not play a minor league game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.[12] Carroll returned to Hillsboro to begin the 2021 season. However, in early May, Carroll injured his shoulder while hitting a home run and later underwent season-ending shoulder surgery.[13][14][15]
