CS Hunedoara

Club Sportiv Hunedoara, commonly known as CS Hunedoara, or simply as Hunedoara, is a Romanian professional football club from Hunedoara, Hunedoara County, founded in 2009 as FC Hunedoara.[1]

This article is about the successor club founded in 2009. For the original club from Huneodara which played senior football between 1921-2004, see Corvinul Hunedoara. For the other successor club between 2005-2008, see SC Corvinul 2005 Hunedoara.

In the summer of 2009, FC Hunedoara was founded, to keep alive the football in Hunedoara. Not to be confused with its predecessor Corvinul Hunedoara or SC Corvinul 2005 Hunedoara, however the club is still considered a phoenix club despite no legal continuity between the three.

Four years in a row FC Hunedoara missed promotion by a slight margin. In the summer of 2016 the club was excluded from Liga III due to financial problems.[3] In the same summer the club was reorganized and changing its name to CS Hunedoara and enrolling directly in the Liga IV, but without a promotion right for the 2016–17 Liga IV season.[4]
