Bothwell and Uddingston (ward)
Bothwell and Uddingston is one of the twenty wards used to elect members of the South Lanarkshire Council.[2] It elects three councillors.
As its name suggests, the ward's territory comprises the adjoining suburban villages of Bothwell and Uddingston, bounded by the River Clyde to the west and south, and the M74 motorway to the north and east bordering the Thorniewood ward of North Lanarkshire (the localities of which were often historically considered parts of Uddingston, particularly before the two parts were divided between the districts of Hamilton and Motherwell in 1975); these boundaries were unaffected by a 2017 national review. The population in 2018 was 13,104.[3]
The ward was formed from the boundaries of three wards under the previous single-member system used from the creation of South Lanarkshire local authority in 1995 until 2007: Bothwell South, Uddingston South/Bothwell and Uddingston.[4]
