Club career

Rus started his career as a senior in 2014 with hometown side Olimpia Satu Mare, before moving the following year to Hungary where he played for Fehérgyarmat, Balmazújváros and Puskás Akadémia. The latter loaned him back to Sepsi OSK in his native country between 2018 and 2019.[1] On 25 June 2019, Rus joined Fehérvár.[2]

International career

Rus acquired Hungarian citizenship during his early spells in the country, making him eligible for the Hungary national team. In spite of that, he stated in an interview for the Romanian Football Federation that he is "100% Romanian" and desires to represent his country of birth.[3]

He was selected in Romania's squad for the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, recording one appearance as his team was eliminated in the semi-finals by Germany.[4] In August that year, Rus received his first call-up to the senior team,[5][6] and started in an eventual 1–0 victory over Malta on 8 September.
