History
In November 2008, Acumatica launched its first product, "Acumatica ERP" alongside an accompanying financial demo. In the following year, on-premises and SaaS software versions were released. The firm's distribution software came a year later in April 2010.[3]
In September 2011, Acumatica received an investment from Visma.[4]
In 2013, Yury Larichev became the company's CEO, soon after the company moved its headquarters to Kirkland, Washington, in the Seattle metropolitan area.[5][6] The firm launched version 4.0 of its ERP suite, which introduced a new user interface, as well as Acumatica Studio for ERP app development in March.[7]
In March 2014, former Microsoft Vice President Jon Roskill was named the new CEO.[8] The firm launched its xRP Cloud Platform two months later.[9] In the fall of 2014, it released the beta version of its new suite, Acumatica 5.0.[10] That same year, Acumatica secured over $13 million in funding in an effort led by MYOB.[11][12]
In June 2018, the firm secured a $25 million Series C round of funding led by Accel-KKR, a Silicon Valley technology-focused investment firm.[13]
In June 2019, private equity fund EQT Partners acquired Acumatica.[14] In December, Acumatica announced a partnership with accounting and advisory firm BDO USA[15] and, in April 2020, it acquired JAAS Advanced Manufacturing Software from JAAS Systems.[16]
In 2021, the Acumatica 2021 R1 and R2 product updates for comprehensive ERP usability and functionality were released; the R2 release featured new integrations with Microsoft Teams and Adobe Document Cloud.[17][18]
In January 2022, Acumatica acquired IBS Imperium, a property management application.[19] On February 16, 2022, John Case was appointed as the new CEO.[1]
Technology
Acumatica's web-based ERP applications are built on top of its internally developed platform xRP. The software can be deployed on-premises, hosted in a data center, or run on a cloud-computing platform (see operating environment below). The software can be licensed or subscribed to as a software as a service (SaaS) solution.[20][21][22]
The firm's SaaS offering runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS)[23] and Windows Azure[24] and SQL Azure.[20] Acumatica's licensed software runs on a Microsoft Windows Server with a Microsoft SQL database. Applications run as .NET managed code.[25]
