20th SAARC summit
The 20th SAARC summit is, as of 2022, the next scheduled diplomatic conference between the eight member states of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). It will be hosted by Pakistan in its capital city of Islamabad.[1] No SAARC conference has been held since the 18th summit of 2014,[2] which was hosted by Nepal in Kathmandu.[3] The 19th summit, which was scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan in November 2016, was cancelled in the fallout of the Uri attack against Indian troops in Jammu and Kashmir; following the attack, India announced its boycott of the 20th summit with the allegation that Pakistan was involved in the attack. Shortly after the Indian withdrawal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Bhutan also pulled out of the summit.[4]
