2022–23 Formula E World Championship

The 2022–23 FIA Formula E World Championship is due to be the ninth season of the FIA Formula E championship.

It will be the first season of the Formula E Gen3.

Team changes

  • Mercedes will leave the championship after competing for three seasons and winning the drivers and constructors titles in the 2020–21 season.[18]
  • On 10 January 2022, Maserati announced they would be joining Formula E in the 2022–23 Season.[12], becoming the first Italian manufacturer in the series. It was later announced in April 2022 that Maserati had agreed a multi-year partnership with ROKiT Venturi Racing.[19]
  • In January 2021 McLaren Racing announced they "had an agreement to join Formula E in Gen3," with no official confirmation being provided since. In December 2021 McLaren Team boss Zak Brown stated that the team would choose if it will enter Formula E sometime in early 2022.[20][21]
  • In April 2022, Nissan announced they would be completely purchasing the e.dams Team in Formula E, to become Nissan Formula E Team.

Location changes

  • A letter of intent was signed between the city of Hyderabad, India, and the FIA, making the city a potential new ePrix location for the season.[23]
  • The Paris ePrix is due to return to the calendar after being left out of the 2021–22 calendar due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[24]
  • The Cape Town ePrix and the Vancouver ePrix will be introduced, after both were originally scheduled to debut in the 2021–22 season.[26][27]
  • The São Paulo ePrix will be introduced, after unsuccessfully attempting to hold a race in the 2017–18 season.[28][29]
