Uyghuristan

Uyghuristan (Uighur: ئۇيغۇرىستان), meaning "land of the Uyghurs"[1] is a name used by Uyghur nationalists to refer to their region of East Turkestan in China. It is a proposed independent Uyghur homeland in the region. It is also simply used as an alternate name for East Turkestan or Xinjiang, the Chinese and official name of the region, which means "new dominion".[2][3] "Uyghuristan" was the name given to the region by ancient Islamic geographers.[4]
