Thooththukkudi macaroon
Thoothukudi macaroon is a type of macaroon from the port town of Thoothukudi, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

While macaroons are traditionally made from ground almonds,[1] these are made from egg whites, sugar, and cashews.[2]
History
Thoothukudi macaroons are basically European macaroons indianised in Thoothukudi. Mr. Arunachalam Pillai introduced macaroons in the district. Local legend says that Portuguese sailors who came to Thoothukudi used local labour for baking macaroons who improvised it to the present form.[2]
