The Northeast Today

The Northeast Today (TNT) is a digital news portal and formerly a magazine. It was launched by Pradyot Deb Burman (also known as P.B.K. Manikya) in August 2007. Its monthly estimated circulation, when in print format was 70,000 copies, making it one of the largest selling magazines in the Northeast Indian market. In 2016, it became a full-fledged digital news portal and it is one of the most viewed websites in the Northeastern region of India, reaching over eight lakh readers. It is also a member of the news media collective NADCOM,[1] which is a self-regulatory body for some of the most-read digital news portals in the northeast.

The magazine and now the website is known for its all-round coverage, and primarily covers politics, sports, cuisine, lifestyle, health, environment, science, and travel.

Corporate atmosphere

The graphs mapping the growth of The Northeast Today are indicative of the ambition the brand has to become the leader and the commitment its team displays in achieving this goal. TNT–The Northeast Today magazine, when in print, was the largest circulated and read in the region.

The team currently has reporting, editing, social media, designing and multimedia divisions.

Acting as the eyes and ears of the region, the team's main aim is to serve the people of the region. Covering topics of relevant importance to the ever-changing complexity of the world at large and region — in particular, current updates, politics, entertainment, culture, food, sports, opinions and a special emphasis to music, which is the soul of the region — are focused on.

Involvement

The Northeast Today has been involved in a lot of youth activities, such as quizzes, debates and seminars, largely because it has a large student and youth base. It is estimated that almost 75% of the readers are under the age of 35.

The magazine has co-partnered a musical show, Eric Martin.[2] TNT was part of the popular White Lion/FireHouse show that attracted over 42,000 fans is Shillong in December 2008.

The website has previously ventured into a partnership and has signed an MoU with the Logical Indian website to bring out stories from Northeast India at the national level. The website has also partnered with online portals like Youth Ki Awaaz to bring out relevant stories from the region and is in the process of signing MoUs with other portals of National repute.

Aim

The magazine-turned-website aims to see that the Northeast region is taken at par in the national level at all levels. TNT is one of the youngest with the average age of 26 years in the editorial board.
