Thalekunnil Basheer

Thalekunnil Basheer (7 March 1945 – 25 March 2022) was one of the senior politicians in the state of Kerala, India.[1] He was a member of Kerala Legislative Assembly. He was member of parliament (both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha). He was also an office bearer of the Kerala Pradesh congress committee. He is the author of many books. His writings include 'Velicham Kooduthal Velicham' (Collection of Articles), 'Rajeev Gandhi : Surya Thejassinte Ormakku', 'Mandelayude Nattil; Gandhijiyudeyum' (Travelogue), and K Damodaran muthal Berlin Kunjananthan Nair vare'. He served as the president of DCC Trivandrum, KPCC general secretary, KPCC vice-president, KPCC president (acting) chairman Thiruvananthapuram Development Authority (TRIDA), and Director of thd Malayalam mission under department of culture, Government of Kerala.

He was a columnist with several newspapers. He was a brother in law of Malayalam actor Prem Nazir, having married Prem Nazir's younger sister Suhra.[2]

Basheer died on March 25, 2022 at the age of 77.[3][4]
