History

The tell which had levels dated back to Aramean, Babylonian, Assyrian, Persian and Byzantine era,[1] witnessed two battles between the Crusader and Muslim armies. The first was in 1115, where Roger of Salerno and Baldwin II defeated Bursuq ibn Bursuq of Hamadan, as the latter was heading into camp at a water point near Tell Danith.[2] While the second was in 1119, in which Baldwin II won against Ilghazi of Mardin.[3][4]
