Taaooma

Maryam Apaokagi (born 28 February 1999) known professionally as Taaooma, is a Nigerian comedian, content creator, cinematographer,[1] and social media influencer. She is known for acting multiple roles in her comedy skits.[2][3]

Early life

Apaokagi was born in Nigeria but spent most of her early years in Namibia. She studied Tourism and Travel Service Management at the Kwara State University.[4][5][6]

In 2015, she started online comedy after convincing her fiancé to teach her the basics of video editing. She rose to stardom in 2019 with a skit based on African parents taking their children to school.[7][8][9]

In 2019, she was the face of Media Room Hub’s July Issue. Her comedy skits are centered on exposing African mothers and their unique manner of disciplining African children with a slap.[10]

Personal life

In October 2020, Apaokagi engaged her fiancé Abdulaziz Oladimeji (aka. Abula) in Namibia,[11] and got married on 24 January 2021.[12]

Awards and recognitions

On 8 November 2020, she was part of The Future Awards Africa: Class of 2020[13] for the prize of content creation (YouTubers, Vloggers). Apaokagi also made The Guardian Nigeria's list of 100 Most Inspiring Women in the country.[14]
