Suresh Joachim

Suresh Joachim Arulanantham (born August 17, 1968) is a Canadian film actor, producer, and multiple-Guinness World Record holder who has broken more than 60 world records[1] set in several countries in attempts to benefit underprivileged children around the world. He is well known as the co-founder of WBBAS, No Poverty No Disease No War, World Peace Marathon and Suresh Joachim International Group Of Companies.

World records

In 1991, Suresh Joachim first discovered the Guinness Book of World Records. He was then inspired to break them himself, as it was the most obvious way he found for an average person like him to become famous.

Joachim's first record attempt involved running in his hometown of Colombo, Sri Lanka for at least a little bit every hour for 1,000 consecutive hours, (August 19 – September 26, 1996; 42 days), totaling a distance of 3,495 km.

On his second attempt for record breaking, Joachim traveled 225.44 km, up and down escalators at the Westfield Burwood Shopping Centre, Burwood, New South Wales, Australia. Joachim next balanced on one foot for 76 hours and 40 minutes at Vihara Maha Devi Park Open Air Stadium, in Sri Lanka.

Farthest distance run, whilst carrying a 4.5 kg brick in a nominated ungloved hand in an uncradled downward position was his next record. Joachim traveled 126.675 km around the Westfield Hornsby mall on Florence Street in Hornsby, New South Wales, Australia. He was unsuccessful the first time, when the brick slipped and cut his hand.[2]

A 14 strong group of musicians led by Suresh Joachim played music for 42 hours 52 minitues at Spencer Plaza Chennai India from 10 to 11 February 2003.

A broadcast by Joachim on Geethavaani Tamil Radio in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, lasted for a record 120 hours. It was broadcast between 4 p.m. on 23 June and 4 p.m. on 28 June 2003. This record was unsuccessfully challenged a few times by DJ Max Rushden of BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, who was aiming for 121 hours.[3]

His wedding to Christa Rasanayagam on September 6, 2003, was held at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mississauga, Ontario. The wedding featured a record 79 bridesmaids, a record 47 groomsmen, and a record 60.09 m (197 ft 1 in) long wedding bouquet, held by the bride.

His next four records were all in Greater Toronto Area malls. On 28 November 2004, Joachim earned the record for quickest time reaching 100 miles on a treadmill, in 13 hours, 42 minutes and 33 seconds at the Square One Shopping Centre Mississauga. At the same time, he went the farthest distance in 24 hours on a treadmill, tallying a distance of 257.88 km (160.24 mi) from the 28th to the 29th. With running records in his collection, Joachim participated in the longest dance marathon by an individual. Set at the Dixie Outlet Mall in Mississauga, the 100-hour event lasted from February 16 to 20, 2005.

Joachim set the record for the longest ten-pin bowling marathon, at 100 hours. He broke this record at Playtime Bowl in Toronto from 8 to 12 June 2005.

The record for the greatest distance Moonwalk in 24 hours is 49.252 km at the Fregata Restaurant & Night Club Ontario, Canada on 11 January 2006.

The longest club DJ marathon is 84 hours 10 minutes at Ganesh Party Palace in Montreal, Quebec, Canada from 15 to 18 February 2006.

On March 17, 2006, he set the world record for a couple dance marathon by dancing 31 hours consecutively with Tiffany Lesko. The dances performed included the waltz, quickstep, cha cha, samba, rumba, and jive.[4]

Joachim's recent record was a record for basketball dribbling distance in 24 hours. The attempt happened at Toronto's Elmbank Community Centre. Tyler Curiel has held the record of 174.46 km since 2003, accomplished at Tulane University.[5]

Greatest distance pushing a car in 24 hours is 19. 2 km.at the Meadowvale Community Centre and Library Mississauga Canada on 17 September 2006.

The fastest time to peel and eat a lemon is 30.97 seconds set by Suresh Joachim in Canada on 3 February 2007.

Longest Breakdancing marathon perform with 11 dancers (all Canadians) who continuously breakdance for 24 hours at Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre Vaughn Canada from 23 to 24 March 2007

Fastest time Frog jumping contest (holding on to one's toes) over 10 m is 9.31 seconds at the Playtime Bowl in Ontario Canada on 16 May 2007.

Longest Karaoke marathon 25 hr 49 min on the set of Live with Kelly and Ryan New York, USA on 7 August 2008.

  • Greatest distance covered in 24 hours while dribbling a basketball is 177.5 km (110.3 mi) at Vulkanhallen, Oslo, Norway on 30–31 March 2001[6]
  • Travelled a distance of 214.96 km (133.57 mi) in 48 hours on a treadmill at Crown Promenade, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on 27–29 July 2002
  • Travelled 86 km (53 mi) on a treadmill in 12 hours on 28 July 2002 at Crown Promenade, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
  • The longest drumming marathon by an individual lasted for 84 hours and was achieved from 1 to 4 February 2004 at the Magic Factory, Zürich, Switzerland
  • Travelled 659.27 km (409.65 mi) on a treadmill in one week at Waou Club Med Gym, Paris, France between 31 July and 7 August 2004
  • Longest continuous crawl of 56.62 km (35.18 mi)[7]
  • Broke the Guinness World Record with Claudia Wavra of Germany for movie watching with a final time of 123 hours and 10 minutes on October 7, 2008. Both received $10,000 for their achievement.
  • He produced and starred in a Tamil Indian film titled Sivappu Mazhai (2009) in attempt to break the record for the fastest shooting time for a feature film.

Early life

Suresh Joachim ancestor is Vijaya Kullankai Arya Chakravarti (Aryacakravarti dynasty) (13th century) the first King of Jaffna who came from the royal town of Madapaly, Central India who belonged to Ganga Kula, and who was related to the Royal Houses of the Cholas (Chola dynasty) and Ramnad. The last king of Jaffna was Don Constantine From his uncles living at Manipay and elsewhere were descended Don (1615). Suresh Joachim was born in Sri Lanka Vavuniya had his primary education at St. Henry's College Ilavalai Growing up in the war-torn region of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, where world peace was a mere mirage and growing up to be a positive individual with a mission to eradicate war, was no small feat.

At the age of 10, Joachim was introduced to the Guinness Book of World Records, where he saw the achievements of the likes of Michael Jackson and his charity efforts for children in need. This is where Joachim found his path. He soon decided that to achieve his idealistic dreams, he needed to first earn and then command a significant amount of social acclaim and the #1 position in the Guinness Book of World Records. He decided that his contribution to achieving his idealistic dreams was through fame, social acclaim and a mention in the Guinness World Records. But Joachim was not just satisfied with a one-time mention in the Guinness Book. He would go on to break many records after that.

Suresh married his fiancée, Christa Rasanayagam a Sri Lankan Tamil whom he met while attempting the world record Radio DJ Marathon 120 hours on June 2003 in Canada. They have two children, Joshua Joachim born in 2005 and Jacob Joachim born in 2006, both of them born in Canada.

What is truly amazing about Suresh is that he can learn anything very quickly in a short time. He has been breaking world records since 1996 and his objective is to hold records in many different categories, including the record for the Tallest Building in the world. His ultimate goal is to break 1000 world records in 20 years.

Recognition

World Peace Marathon

World Peace Marathon Suresh Joachim lit the World Peace torch in Bethlehem and began his first marathon in Jerusalem on 25 December 2017. So far, he ran in 6 continents, 72 countries, 125 cities, approximately covering 3588.1 km. During his marathon, he has collected people's messages for World Peace in more than 60 languages. He has travelled on 70 airplanes, 54 buses, 29 trains and multiple taxies.

While he was doing his marathon, He was able to meet Canadian representatives in Hong Kong, Serbia, India and other countries. He passed the peace torch to many leaders including Nobel Peace Director, Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Mayor of Oslo and Ireland respectively, Ministers, Delegates, Police and Army, actors, business leaders and the people who support his vision for world peace. Throughout his journey he realized peace is for everyone, it is not based on language or religion or which country or color of your skin. As human we all can strive for World Peace and that is one thing in common that can bring us together.

Suresh has completed the part where he had to struggle every day in countries that he has never stepped a foot in his life. He has met people of different races and religions and have understood how difficult it is to survive on a day-to-day basis. Suresh has reached his end goal – the country that gave him the vision to go on this adventure of his life.
