Plot

In a world where the battle between Hero and Demon Lord repeated itself time and time again, an enormous space-time spell misfired and hit a certain Japanese high school class on Earth, killing everyone in it. However, guided by what seemed to be a miracle, the students were all reincarnated into that other world. While a handful was fortunate enough to become royalty, nobles, and other kinds of influential people, one girl was not so lucky. Being reborn as a spider monster of the weakest kind in a dungeon filled with vicious beasts, she is forced to experience extreme hardship. Even so, armed with nothing but her human knowledge and overwhelming positivity, she continues to press on and survive against creatures much stronger than herself.

Characters

Main

Shiraori (白織, Shiraori) / White (, Shiro)
Voiced by: Aoi Yūki[2] (anime), Sumire Uesaka[3][4] (PV & CM) (Japanese); Brianna Knickerbocker[5] (English)
Nicknamed "Kumoko" by the fandom. She reincarnated as an initially "Nameless" white spider monster in the most dangerous dungeon in the world where she has to constantly fight to survive and slowly evolves into an incredibly powerful being, eventually being given the terrifying epithet of the "Nightmare of the Labyrinth" and ascending to godhood after transcending the world's RPG system. In the prolepsis, she has acquired a human form and serves as the commander of the 10th demon army. Initially implied to be the reincarnation of the classmate Hiiro Wakaba, she is later revealed to have actually been the class' pet spider and was implanted with the real Wakaba's memories. Following the revelation that the planet is dying, she forms a plan to save it by destroying the system and using the freed-up energy to heal the world, indifferent that half of humanity would die from the backlash.
Ariel (アリエル, Arieru)
Voiced by: Sumire Uesaka (Japanese); Veronica Taylor (English)[6]
The current Demon Lord and progenitor of all spider monsters in the world. Though physically a girl in her early teens, she is actually one of the oldest beings on the planet. She confronted Shiraori after she finally escapes the dungeon and tries to kill her, as her existence was doing enormous damage to the hive-mind of the spider monster species. However, after multiple failed attempts, the two agree to a ceasefire and start traveling together, eventually putting their grievances aside and building a very strong grandmother-granddaughter relationship. In the prolepsis, she wages war against humanity and is generally viewed as a tyrant. However, following the revelation that the planet is dying, her warmongering roughly makes sense, since the world's RPG system gathers the energy of people's skills upon their deaths to heal the planet.
Sophia Keren (ソフィア・ケレン, Sofia Keren) / Shouko Negishi (根岸彰子, Negishi Shouko)
Voiced by: Ayana Taketatsu (Japanese); Ryan Bartley (English)[6]
One of the classmates, nicknamed "Vampy". She reincarnated as a vampire born to human parents due to a mutation. She crossed paths with Shiraori when she was still a baby and was later taken in by her and Ariel after her home was destroyed in a war. Bullied in her previous life, she initially disliked everything associated with her past self, including Shiraori, but over time developed a very close, sister-like relationship with her, to the point of becoming possessive. In the prolepsis, she offers manipulative assistance to fellow classmate Hugo and is later revealed to be an officer in the tenth demon army.
Wrath (ラース, Rāsu) / Razu-Razu (ラズラズ, Razurazu) / Kyouya Sasajima (笹島京也, Sasajima Kyouya)
Voiced by: Ryōta Ōsaka (Japanese); TBA (English)[7]
One of the classmates, nicknamed "Mr. Oni". He was reincarnated as a goblin. Having never liked the capitalistic modern world, he actually enjoyed the goblins' hunter-gatherer lifestyle. However, one day, his village was destroyed by humans and he was enslaved by them. After subsequently being abused by them, he broke free after unlocking his unique skill, which raises his stats ten-fold at the cost of his sanity. He subsequently went on a rampage, evolving into an oni in the process, until Shiraori defeated him and he joined her group. In the prolepsis, he is the commander of the 8th Demon Army.
Merazophis (メラゾフィス, Merazofisu)
Voiced by: Kenjiro Tsuda[8]
Sophia's butler, whom she has a one-sided crush on, nicknamed "Mera". Her parents entrusted her to him when their home was destroyed in a war. However, they ended up being mortally injured whilst fleeing with her, forcing her to turn him into a vampire to save his life. Though struggling with his fading humanity, he continues to strive to protect his mistress. In the prolepsis, he is the commander of the 4th Demon Army and the arch-nemesis classmates Kunihiko and Asaka who massacred their tribe. However, it is later revealed, in the main story, that this was actually retaliation for said tribe regularly raiding demon lands.
Güliedistodiez (ギュリエディストディエス, Gyuriedisutodiesu) / Black (, Kuro)
Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa (Japanese); TBA (English)[7]
A god who takes on the form of a man dressed in black armor and the ruler of the dragons, nicknamed "Gulie". While concerned that the reincarnations might upset the world's balance, he has been ordered by his superior, D, not to interfere. He is also an old friend of Ariel. In the prolepsis, he is the commander of the 9th Demon Army. While seemingly supporting Shiraori, he secretly opposes her plan to destroy the world's RPG system and save the dying planet, as half of humanity would die from the backlash, and instead intends to sacrifice the gods, including himself and Shiraori, to stave off the collapse, which would only delay the inevitable.
Ael (アエル, Aeru), Sael (サエル, Saeru), Riel (リエル, Rieru), Fiel (フィエル, Fieru)
Ariel's quartet of Puppet Taratects, small spider-type monsters that operate human-sized mannequins. Although initially enemies, they grow close with Shiraori after they start traveling together and she gave their mannequins a make-over, giving them an almost human-like appearance. Though incapable of speech, each still displays their own personal traits: Ael is the serious one, Sael the timid one, Riel the airheaded one, and Fiel the mischievous one.
D / Hiiro Wakaba (若葉姫色, Wakaba Hiiro)
Voiced by: Saori Hayami (Japanese); TBA (English)[9]
One of the classmates. She was initially implied to be Shiraori's past self and an otaku who was a victim of bullying. However, it is later revealed that she is actually a high-ranking god who was slacking off from her duties. She was the one who reincarnated her classmates after they were killed in an explosion, which was actually an attempt on her life by a previous Hero and Demon Lord, and created Shiraori by giving her memories to the class' pet spider to make it seem like "Wakaba" had died, just to avoid being found and dragged back to work by her fellow gods. She is also the creator of the world's RPG system, which is a curse she placed on humanity after they nearly destroyed the planet once, bestowing them with skills to develop and taking them back upon their deaths to heal the world. Throughout the story, she takes a more-or-less neutral stance, occasionally aiding Shiraori whilst also making the situations she finds herself in worse for her own entertainment.

Prolepsis

  • While the storylines initially appeared to be concurrent, it is eventually revealed that the prolepsis actually takes place roughly fifteen years in the future, with the timelines gradually converging as the events of the main story catch up.
Schlain Zagan Analeit (シュレイン・ザガン・アナレイト, Shurein Zagan Anareito) / Shunsuke Yamada (山田 俊介, Yamada Shunsuke)
Voiced by: Shun Horie (Japanese); Alejandro Saab (English)[10]
One of the classmates, nicknamed "Shun". He reincarnated as the fourth prince of the Analeit Kingdom. Having had a sheltered upbringing, he is very dense and naive. He later inherits the hero title following the death of his older brother, Julius, and has to flee his Kingdom after being framed for a coup d'état by fellow classmate Hugo and his older half-brother, Cylis. He subsequently goes on a journey to the Elf Village to stop Hugo, who is throwing the world into chaos, whilst unknowingly being used by the elves in a shadow war against the demons and Word of God church. After the timelines converge and he learns of the state of the world, he rejects both Shiraori's and Güliedistodiez's costly solutions in favor of one where no one would have to die: directly confronting D.
Karnatia Seri Anabald (カルナティア・セリ・アナバルド, Karunatia Seri Anabarudo) / Kanata Ōshima (大島 叶多, Ōshima Kanata)
Voiced by: Nao Tōyama (Japanese); Kira Buckland (English)[10]
One of the classmates and a member of Shun's party, nicknamed "Katia". She reincarnated as a noblewoman in the Analeit Kingdom. She suffers from gender dysphoria due to having been a man in her previous life, which only grows more complicated when she starts developing romantic feelings for Shun. However, she ultimately resolves that her past self is dead and fully embraces her new gender.
Feirune (フェイルーン, Feirune) / Mirei Shinohara (漆原美麗, Shinohara Mirei)
Voiced by: Eri Kitamura (Japanese); Elise Eikermann (English)[10]
One of the classmates and a member of Shun's party, nicknamed "Fei". She reincarnated as Shun's pet earth dragon and later evolved into a light dragon after he became the new hero, gaining a human form in the process. A bully in her previous life, she sees her current predicament as karmic punishment and vows to better herself. Because of this, she was distraught upon learning one of her former victims, Wakaba, had supposedly died after reincarnating. This also leads her to be shocked upon crossing paths with Shiraori, mistaking her for Wakaba.
Suelecia Analeit (スーレシア・アナレイト, Sureshia Anareito)
Voiced by: Yui Ogura (Japanese); Kira Buckland (English)[10]
The second princess of the Analeit Kingdom and Shun's younger half-sister, nicknamed "Sue". She is a yandere with a brother complex, which is obvious to everyone except her brother. When Hugo overthrew Analeit, she was seemingly brainwashed and forced to assassinate her father while framing Shun. However, it is later revealed, in the main story, that she was actually not being controlled at all and willingly aided Shiraori out of fear. After the timelines converge, she betrays Shiraori and sides with Shun.
Filimøs Harrifenas (フィリメス・ハァイフェナス, Firimesu Harifenasu) / Kanami Okazaki (岡崎 香奈美, Okazaki Kanami)
Voiced by: Kaya Okuno (Japanese); Cherami Leigh (English)[10]
The class' homeroom teacher and a member of Shun's party, nicknamed "Ms. Oka". She reincarnated as the daughter of the elf patriarch, Potimas. Using a unique skill that tells her the reincarnations' pasts, presents, and futures, she has been scouring the world for her students and securing them at the elf village. However, the skill comes with the caveat that she cannot freely talk about it, forcing her to keep secrets and causing those she wishes to protect to distrust her. Also, unbeknownst to her, she herself is ironically being manipulated by her fellow elves. After the timelines converge, she learns of the elves' deceptions.
Hugo Baint von Renxandt (ユーゴー・バン・レングザンド, Hūgo Ban Renguzando) / Natsume Kengo (夏目健吾, Kengo Natsume)
Voiced by: Kaito Ishikawa (Japanese); Xander Mobus (English)[10]
One of the classmates and the central antagonist of the prolepsis. He reincarnated as the crown prince of Renxandt Empire. Already egotistical in his previous life, his new royal upbringing turned him into a megalomaniac who tried to assassinate Shun out of jealousy for his popularity, but failed and got stripped of his skills by Ms. Oka. However, rather than realizing the error of his ways like she hoped, this prompted him to make a deal with the demons to overthrow the Analeit Kingdom and attack the Elf Village as revenge, only to end up being brainwashed by Shiraori into aiding her group in their shadow war against the elves before being cast aside once his usefulness had run out. After the timelines converge and the brainwashing gets undone, he finally snapped out of his megalomania and became repentant toward his previous actions.
Yuri Ullen (ユーリーン・ウレン, Yūri Uren) / Yuika Hasebe (長谷部結花, Hasebe Yuika)
Voiced by: Aimi Tanaka (Japanese); Laura Post (English)[10]
One of the classmates. She reincarnated into a poor family who left her to the Word of God church, where she eventually became a saintess. Scared and alone, she clung to the only Japanese-speaking thing around her: the system voice of the world's RPG system. This, along with her upbringing, turned her into a religious fanatic. She later starts aiding Hugo due to the church allying itself with him.
Kunihiko Tagawa (田川邦彦, Tagawa Kunihiko)
Voiced by: Sōma Saitō
One of the classmates. He reincarnated in a nomad tribe alongside his childhood friend Asaka, whom he had always had a crush on. However, one day, their village got destroyed by Merazophis, leaving them as the only survivors. Afterward, he became an adventurer to become stronger and get revenge. He and Asaka are eventually found by Filimøs and brought to the Elf Village, where they joined Shun's party. After the timelines converge, he reluctantly lets go of his grudge against Merazophis after learning that his tribe's massacre was actually retaliation for them regularly raiding demon lands.
Asaka Kushitani (櫛谷麻香, Kushitani Asaka)
Voiced by: Ayane Sakura
One of the classmates. She reincarnated in a nomad tribe that regularly raided demon lands alongside her childhood friend Kunihiko, whom she had always had a crush on. However, one day, their village got destroyed by Merazophis, leaving them as the only survivors. Afterward, she followed Kunihiko as he became an adventurer to watch over him. She and Kunihiko are eventually found by Filimøs and brought to the Elf Village, where they joined Shun's party.
Sajin (サジン, Sajin) / Shinobu Kusama (草間忍, Kusama Shinobu)
Voiced by: Nobunaga Shimazaki
One of the classmates. He reincarnated as the son of a Word of God church black ops member and thus naturally became one himself as well, though his talkative personality clashes with his job. He aids Hugo due to the church allying itself with him.

Supporting

Julius Zagan Analeit (ユリウス・ザガン・アナレイト, Yuriusu Zagan Anareito)
Voiced by: Junya Enoki (Japanese); Landon McDonald (English)[10]
The previous Hero as well as the second prince of the Analeit Kingdom and Shun's older brother, whom the latter greatly looked up to. He once faced Shiraori in the main storyline, set 15 years ago, which left him with mild arachnophobia. When war broke out between the humans and demons, he was killed by a mysterious white girl later revealed to be Shiraori.
Hyrince Quarto (ハイリンス・クォート, Hairinsu Kuōto)
Voiced by: Kazuyuki Okitsu (Japanese); TBA (English)[6]
Julius' best friend and a member of his party. He is the only one out of the group who survived their encounter with a mysterious white girl later revealed to be Shiraori. Afterward, he joined Shun's party and began acting as a mentor-like figure for him. It is later revealed that he is actually a clone of Güliedistodiez created to watch over the current holder of the Hero title. After the timelines converge, he is taken captive by Ariel.
Yaana (ヤーナ, Yāna)
The previous Saint and a member of Julius' party. She had an obvious crush him but he opted not to reciprocate her feelings out of fear that he might die and leave her alone. When war broke out between human and demonkind, she sacrificed herself to protect Julius from a colossal spider monster.
Jeskan (ジスカン, Jisukan)
A former adventurer and a member of Julius' party. He joined the group after becoming inspired by the young Hero's ideals and acted as a mentor-like figure to them. When war broke out between human and demonkind, he died alongside Hawkin from injuries he sustained while fighting the 1st demon army commander.
Hawkin (ホーキン, Hōkin)
A former gentleman thief and a member of Julius' party. At some point, he was captured and sold to Jeskan as a slave. Despite this, however, they grew to have a trusted master-servant relationship and he joined the group simply because Jeskan did so as well. When war broke out between human and demonkind, he died alongside Jeskan from injuries he sustained while fighting the 1st demon army commander.
Anna (アナ, Ana)
Voiced by: Larissa Tago Takeda
Shun's maid and the person who raised him after his mother passed away. She is a half-elf who left the Elf Village due to persecution and ended up becoming the court magician of the Analeit Kingdom for several generations before retiring. She cares for Shun as if he were her own child and followed him on his journey to the Elf Village despite the physical and mental toll it took on her. After the timelines converge, she is left behind in the Elf Village.
Ronandt Orozoi (ロナント・オロゾイ, Ronanto Orozoi)
Voiced by: Nobuo Tobita
The court mage of the Renxandt Empire who is widely regarded as humanity's strongest magic caster. Initially arrogant, he was greatly humbled following a near-death encounter with Shiraori. Afterward, he developed an unhealthy infatuation with her and became obsessed with getting stronger, though he eventually remembered why he sought strength in the first place – to protect people – and subsequently became Julius and Aurel's magic instructor. After the timelines converge, he opposes Shiraori's plan to destroy the world's RPG system, as half of humanity would die from the backlash.
Buirimus (ブイリムス, Buirimusu)
A monster tamer and an officer in the Renxandt Empire military. He was sent to investigate a monster outbreak caused by Shiraori scaring away all the dungeon's monsters, only to have his entire squad wiped out by her and subsequently be demoted for failure. Later learning that his child, who is one of the classmates, was kidnapped, he desperately sought an achievement to return home. However, this prompted him to enslave Razu-Razu and his subsequent abuse of the goblin awakened his unique skill, resulting in him being killed by his own tamed monster.
Aurel Stadt (オーレル・シュタット, Aureru Shutatto)
A magician of the Renxandt Empire and Ronandt's apprentice. She was born into a low-ranking noble family that desperately sought to marry her off to improve their status. However, she instead ended up becoming Ronandt's retainer and later apprentice after he realized her talent, though she expresses annoyance with the workload. She is also a childhood friend of Julius and seemed to have had a crush on him.
Felmina (フェルミナ, Ferumina)
Shiraori's second-in-command in the tenth demon army. She was originally a noble who attended the same class as Sophia at the demon academy and planned to assassinate her after she accidentally <Charmed> all the male students and effectively took over the school. However, her <Charmed> fiancé, Wald, saw through her plan and had her stripped of her status. Afterward, though, she was taken in by Shiraori and became extremely devoted to her. Due to working for Shiraori, she learned of the state of the planet and supports her plan to destroy the RPG system.
Wald (ヴァルト, Vu~aruto)
An officer in the tenth demon army and Felmina's ex-fiancé. He is a noble who attended the same demon academy class as Sophia where he constantly unsuccessfully tried to beat her and eventually developed a one-sided crush on her. Unfortunately, after joining the military, he ended up becoming the weakest member of the army even after he desperately had Sophia turn him into a vampire. Due to working for Shiraori, he learned of the state of the planet and supports her plan to destroy the RPG system.
Sariel (サリエル, Sarieru)
Voiced by: Kikuko Inoue (Japanese); TBA (English)
A god who takes on the form of an angel and the true identity of the system voice, as well as Ariel's adoptive mother. After humanity nearly destroyed the planet once by draining its life to use it as an energy source, she agreed to become the core of the world's RPG system so the people could atone by developing skills, which would be taken back upon their deaths to heal the world. However, at present, she is approaching her limit and is dying, which would kill all of humanity as well. Ariel and Shiraori plan to destroy the RPG system, which would save her whilst minimizing damage by only killing half of humanity, whereas Güliedistodiez and Dustin intend to let her die and for the former to then take her place, maintaining the status quo but also only delaying the inevitable.

Antagonists

Araba (アラバ, Araba)
A powerful earth dragon that inhabited the same dungeon as Shiraori. It encountered Shiraori several times and even destroyed her nest once, traumatizing her with its overwhelming power, but always let her go, as it did not consider the spider worth its attention. However, this proved to be a mistake that would cost the dragon its life, as this prompted her to become strong and claim her revenge. Toward the end of their final battle, though, the earth dragon opted to let Shiraori kill it after being pushed into a corner, choosing to die with pride rather than struggle in vain.
Mother (もたる, Motaru)
A colossal spider-type monster that gave birth to Shiraori. The two did not have a good relationship, with her trying to cannibalize her as soon as she was born, forcing her to flee, and later attempting to control her using a psychic link she has with her offspring. This prompted Shiraori to use their connection to eat away at her soul, slowly weakening her and prompting her to send her other offspring to attack her. During their final battle, despite being severely weakened, she managed to lure Shiraori and nearly killed her, only being defeated when she used her own stolen strength against her.
Potimas Harrifenas (ポティマス・ハァイフェナス, Potimasu Haaifenasu)
Voiced by: Toshiyuki Morikawa[8]
The patriarch of the elves as well as Ariel and Filimøs' father. Initially presented as a supporting character in the prolepsis, where he helped Filimøs search for her students, it is later revealed that he is actually the central antagonist of the main story: a narcissistic mad scientist with a god complex who is obsessed with attaining immortality and drains the planet's lifeforce to power his inventions. In reality, he only helped secure the reincarnations in hopes of using them as guinea pigs in his experiments and even killed the ones he considered dangerous. Shortly after the timelines converged, he is killed by Ariel during the Demons' attack on the Elf Village.
Dustin LXI (ダスティンLXI, Dasutin LXI)
Voiced by: Takashi Matsuyama
The pontiff of the Word of God religion who caused the war that destroyed Sophia's home in the main story and aided Hugo in the flash-forward. He has lived for centuries using a unique skill that allows him to reincarnate with his memories intact when he dies. Despite his horrible actions, however, he genuinely acts for humanity's greater good and is fully aware of how depraved he is, but already views himself as "irredeemable". He later takes on more of a supporting role by cooperating with Shiraori and Ariel to defeat their common enemy: Potimas. However, he is opposed to their plan to destroy the world's RPG system, as half of humanity would die from the backlash, and is secretly working with Güliedistodiez to stave off the collapse by sacrificing the gods instead, which would only delay the inevitable,
Cylis (シリウス, Shiriusu)
The first prince of the Analeit Kingdom and one of Shun's older half-brothers. Though the crown prince, he was privately worried about being disinherited by his more talented siblings. As a result, when this exact scenario came to pass when his father made Shun his heir after he became the new Hero to keep him off the battlefield, it prompted him to ally himself with Hugo and launch a coup d'etat by killing the king whilst framing his brother. Afterward, however, Hugo brainwashed him and broke his mind to erase evidence of his involvement.

Demons

  • After the timelines coverage, the surviving demons (except Darad) oppose Shiraori's plan to destroy the world's RPG system, as half of demonkind would die from the backlash, effectively becoming antagonists.
Balto Phthalo (バルト・フィサロ, Baruto Fisaro)
Voiced by: Yūichirō Umehara (Japanese); TBA (English)[6]
Ariel's right-hand man and the de-facto ruler of the demons in her absence. While opposed to her warmongering, he is forced to support her out of fear that she would otherwise turn her overwhelming strength on demonkind instead.
Bloe Phthalo (ブロウ・フィサロ, Burou Fisaro)
Voiced by: Subaru Kimura
Balto's younger brother and the commander of the 7th Demon Army. Out of all the commanders, he was the most vocally opposed to Ariel's warmongering, though he never acted on his words. He also had a crush on Shiraori, which was obvious to everyone except her. He was killed by Julius when war broke out between humans and demonkind.
Agner Ricep (アーグナー・ライセップ, Agunā Raiseppu)
Voiced by: Takuya Kirimoto
The commander of the 1st Demon Army. While playing the role of loyalist, he was actually secretly undermining Ariel's rule by supporting rebellions. However, Shiraori exposed his plot, forcing him to truly support Ariel. He was killed by Julius' party when war broke out between the human and demonkind.
Sanatoria (サーナトリア, Sanatoria)
Voiced by: Sayaka Ōhara
The commander of the 2nd Demon Army. She is opposed to Ariel's warmongering and secretly formulating a rebellion against her. However, the demon lord is fully aware of her plot and views her as no threat.
Kogou (コゴウ, Kogou)
Voiced by: Shun Fujii
The commander of the 3rd Demon Army. Despite being a large and physically imposing man, he is actually a shy, peace-loving individual. Because of this, he is opposed to Ariel restarting conflict with humanity but is too scared of her to take action himself, prompting him to join Sanatoria's rebellion.
Darad (ダラド, Darado)
The commander of the 5th Demon Army. He is the only pure-blood demon genuinely loyal to Ariel.
Huey Guidek (ヒュウイ・ギデク, Hyuui Gideku)
The commander of the 6th Demon Army. While opposed to Ariel's warmongering, he was ultimately too scared of her to ever act on it. He was killed by Ronandt when war broke out between humans and demonkind.

Dragons

Gakia (ガキア, Gakia)
The ruler of the earth dragons who inhabited the same dungeon as Shiraori. It had a very honorable personality, believing it is natural for "the old generation to make way for the new one". Because of this, it took offense to Ariel "coming out of nowhere" and trying to kill Shiraori and subsequently fought her, leading to its death. Afterward, Güliedistodiez gave its corpse to Shiraori to consume, believing it was what it would have wanted.
Hyuvan (ヒュバン, Hyuban)
The ruler of the wind dragons. Despite its status as the ruler of its sub-species, it has a very punkish attitude, often causing it to get into comedic arguments with Ariel. However, it remains absolutely loyal to Güliedistodiez, who he refers to as "boss". After the timelines converged, it initially sided with Güliedistodiez against Shiraori, but later decides to help Shun find a way to save the planet where no one would have to die.
Nia (ニア, Nia)
The ruler of the ice dragons. It has a very haughty and somewhat snobbish attitude, causing Ariel to consider it the "most annoying" of the dragon rulers. It also had somewhat of a rivalry with Wrath, having fought him several times while he was on a rampage induced by his unique skill. After the timelines converged, it initially sides with Güliedistodiez against Shiraori, but later decides to help Shun find a way to save the planet where no one would have to die.
Reise (レイス, Reisu)
The ruler of the darkness dragons and the former guardian of the Demon Lord's Sword, a one-time-use weapon crafted by D that can only be wielded by the Demon Lord and can kill even a god. However, since the sword has already been used by the previous Demon Lord and Hero in a failed attempt to assassinate D, it now serves as Güliedistodiez's second-in-command in the ninth demon army. Also, unlike the other dragon rulers, it was not created by Güliedistodiez but instead a result of an experiment by Potimas: a combination of his DNA with a dragon's. After the timelines converged, it initially sided with Güliedistodiez against Shiraori, but later decides to help Shun find a way to save the planet where no one would have to die.
Byaku (ビャク, Byaku)
The ruler of the light dragons and the guardian of the Hero's Sword, a one-time-use weapon crafted by D that can only be wielded by the Hero and can kill even a god. The sword was discovered by Julius and the dragon allowed him to take it, as he was the Hero, binding itself to the blade to continue watching over it. After Julius' death, the sword came into Shun's possession, who remains unaware of both its true nature and its occupant.
Iena (イエナ, Jena)
The ruler of the water dragons. After the timelines converged, it sided with Güliedistodiez against Shiraori. It is killed whilst fighting Sophia and Wrath.

Body-Brain (体担当, Karada tantō), Magic-Brain #1 (魔法担当一号, Mahou tantō ichigo), Magic-Brain #2 (魔法担当二語, Mahou tantō ni-go)
Voiced by: Aoi Yūki[11] (anime), Sumire Uesaka[3][4] (PV & CM) (Japanese); Brianna Knickerbocker[5] (English)
A trio of separate personalities of Shiraori created through the <Parallel Minds> skill that kept her company during her time in the dungeon. Each had her own twist on her personality: body-brain had a macho persona, magic-brain #1 a show-offish persona, and magic-brain #2 a timid persona. Unfortunately, each of them met their demise at some point: body-brain was absorbed by Ariel whilst Shiraori was forced to kill the magic-brains after they became corrupted following the battle against Mother.
Nightmare's Vestige (悪夢の残滓, Akumu No Zanshi)
Voiced by: Aoi Yūki
A new spider monster species that are Shiraori's offspring created through the <Egg Laying> skill. They possess intelligence on par with a human, communicate through telepathy, and are absolutely loyal to their "Mother/Master". Despite their fearsome reputation, however, they are generally docile towards humans unless provoked.
Meiges Derra Analeit (メイゲス・デラ・分析する, Meigesu Dera Analeito)
The ruler of the Analeit Kingdom and Shun's father. He deeply cared for his children, to the point of being heartbroken following Julius' death and making Shun his heir after he became the new Hero to keep him off the battlefield. Unfortunately, this prompted his firstborn, Cylis, to ally himself with Hugo and the demons and rebel against him, leading to his death. However, it is later revealed, in the main story, that he had been brainwashed by Potimas, forcing Shiraori to have him killed since she had no method of breaking it.
Leston (レストン, Resuton)
The third prince of the Analeit Kingdom and one of Shun's older half-brothers. Despite renouncing his claim to the throne, he was captured during Cylis' rebellion and sentenced to be executed. Fortunately, Shun and his party managed to rescue him. Afterward, he opted to stay behind in the Kingdom to restore it to order.
John Keren (ジョン・ケレン, Jon Keren)
Sophia's father and the count of Keren County. When Shiraori builds a nest in his territory, he tried not to anger the dangerous monster whilst simultaneously trying to appease foreign diplomats, who wanted the spider for themselves. However, his actions ended being for naught, as the Word of God Religion used Shiraori as a casus belli and declared war. He was killed when his home was attacked by enemy forces, but not before he ordered the family butler, Merazophis, to take Sophia and flee.
Seras Keren (セラス・ケレン, Serasu Keren)
Sophia's mother and the countess of Keren County. An avid follower of the Goddess Religion, she became convinced that Shiraori was a Divine Beast send by Sariel after she saved her and Sophia from some bandits on a whim. She was killed when her home was destroyed in a war, but not before she ordered the family butler, Merazophis, to take Sophia and flee.
Meido (冥土, Meido)
A high-ranking god who takes on the form of a Japanese beauty in a maid outfit. She is the only one who can physically silence D and put a stop to her antics.

Anime

It was reported on July 6, 2018, that the series would receive an anime adaptation, according to an early look at the wraparound jacket band on the fifth volume of the manga adaptation.[13] The report was confirmed at Kadokawa's booth at Anime Expo later that day, and it was announced that the adaptation would be a television series.[69] Originally set to premiere in 2020,[70] it was rescheduled to premiere in January 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[71] The two-cour (24 episode) series was animated by Millepensee and directed by Shin Itagaki, with Okina Baba and Yūichirō Momose overseeing the series' scripts, and Kii Tanaka designing the characters, Shūji Katayama composing the series' music, and Jōtarō Ishigami producing the series. The series aired from January 8 to July 3, 2021, on AT-X and other channels. The first opening theme song is "keep weaving your spider way" performed by Riko Azuna, while the first ending theme song is "Do Your Best! Kumoko-san's Theme" (がんばれ!蜘蛛子さんのテーマ, "Ganbare! Kumoko-san no Tēma") performed by I (Aoi Yūki).[72] The second opening theme is "Bursty Greedy Spider" performed by Konomi Suzuki, while the second ending theme is "Reality Convex Hierarchy" (Genjitsu Totsugeki Hierarchy) by Yūki.[73][74] It is licensed by Crunchyroll outside Asia.[75] Medialink has licensed the series in Southeast Asia and South Asia, and is streaming it on their Ani-One YouTube channel and Bilibili.[76] The final episode was delayed due to production issues and aired one week later on July 3, 2021.[77]

During what seemed to be an ordinary day, a mysterious explosion occurs and kills an entire high school class. One of the classmates wakes up to find she has been reincarnated in another world as a weak "Nameless" spider-type monster. Quickly escaping from her cannibalistic mother and siblings, she realizes this world functions under RPG logic, only to end up wasting all her skill points on a useless <Appraisal> skill. Wandering the labyrinth for a while, she finds herself increasingly hungry until she finally resorts to cannibalizing the corpse of one of her siblings, which causes her to unlock a mysterious <Taboo> skill, and later manages to kill a poisonous frog by traping it in a web she made. Despite both meals tasting awful, Nameless resolves to survive in this new world. Elsewhere, it is revealed that her classmates reincarnated as well – the fourth prince of the Analeit Kingdom Shun, noblewoman Katia, Shun's pet earth dragon Fei, crown prince of the Renxandt Empire Hugo, saintess Yuri, and the class' teacher turned elf Ms. Oka – and they are all attending magic school with Shun's younger sister Sue.

Fei shares with Shun her belief that her reincarnating as a dragon was karmic punishment for bullying their classmate, Wakaba, in her previous life. She asks Ms. Oka about her, who has been searching the world for reincarnations, but she reveals Wakaba has not been found yet, causing Fei to hope she is okay. Meanwhile, Nameless continues hunting monsters and discovers that she has a unique skill that heals her as she levels up. She proceeds to build a nest and later finds a human caught in her web, who drops a dragon egg while escaping. Nameless plans to eat it, but before she can do so more humans appear and burn down her nest to get the egg back, forcing her to flee. Depressed at how weak she is, Nameless builds a new nest and begins aggressively hunting monsters to get stronger. Before long, however, her new nest is also attacked, this time by a giant snake. After a hard-fought battle, Nameless beats the snake, causing her to reach her level cap and evolve. Back at the academy, Fei decides she might as well try to get stronger herself.

After evolving, Nameless is suddenly attacked by a group of humans and while fleeing from them accidentally falls down a hole. At the Academy, Shun's class is having magic practice. However, Hugo causes a scene in an attempt to stand out. The class is then suddenly attacked by an earth dragon, which kills the teacher. Hugo arrogantly tries to defeat it alone, only to get instantly knocked out. Emulating his older brother, the <Hero> Julius, Shun attacks it with the other reincarnates and manages to kill it. However, afterward, Shun is horrified to learn Fei gained the title <Kin Eater>, meaning the dragon was probably her parent, while Hugo is infuriated as Shun is celebrated as a hero. Back with Nameless, she now finds herself in the dungeon's lower stratum, filled with monsters that utterly outmatch her. However, she then crosses paths with a high-level earth dragon named Araba, who easily kills them. Nameless tries to hide, but Araba notices her, leaving her at the dragon's mercy.

Fortunately for Nameless, Araba does not consider her worth its attention and leaves. Finding herself stuck in the lower stratum, she begins exploring whilst constantly having to hide as every creature down here is much stronger than her. She eventually finds herself starving and resorts to eating the only species weaker than her: grubs so poisonous eating them almost kills her. Eventually, she starts to level up again and manages to defeat several weak monsters. However, she makes a huge mistake when she kills a monkey monster, which prompts its entire family to attack her in retribution. Finding herself trapped, she is forced to fight the horde. Following a prolonged battle, which she only survived thanks to the skill that heals her upon leveling up, Nameless stands victorious. Having defeated the monkeys, Nameless finds what seems to be the path back to the upper stratum, but instead finds herself in the middle stratum; a lava level.

Nameless is at a disadvantage against the new monsters as they are all able to burn her webs. Finding a safe area she evolves into a Small Poison Taratect for the more potent venom. Using skill points she also purchases the ability Pride, as it allows her to level up faster but also unlocks unholy and dark magic abilities she is unsure about. At the academy, Shun is impressed with Fei’s progress as she has evolved several times and they are both more popular after the defeat of the Earth-Dragon. Fei shows concern over Yuri who is becoming increasingly fanatical in her religious beliefs and demands Shun tell her if he ever comes across someone with the Taboo skill as they are the unholiest of sinners and should be eliminated. Shun is surprised that, as a Hero, his brother Julius is under the patronage of the Word of God Church. Nameless is frustrated she can't use the magical abilities she keeps unlocking. Returning to the lava lake she comes across giant catfish monsters and realizes she can kill them by tricking them into swallowing balls of her poison. She also takes an interest in an ability she has not yet unlocked, Ruler of Pride. Nearby, Julius and his team approach the lava lake.

Julius reveals they are hunting a spider monster. Nameless realizes one of her magic skills allows her to see a few seconds into the future and successfully defeats a giant eel, later using the eel's corpse as a makeshift shelter so she can evolve into a <Zoa Ele> spider with higher combat and stealth, glossing over that humans consider Zoa Ele's to be harbingers of misfortune. After evolving she is happy to find her front legs are now as sharp as knives and her body has generated armor plates. She also purchases the <Perseverance> skill that makes her more likely to survive with low health, though it also increases her Taboo skill. She also becomes able to use <Detection> to better sense her surroundings. Dual Perception also gives her two distinct minds so she can multitask more efficiently and literally talk to herself. Julius and his team are attacked by three Greater Taratects and an even higher level Taratect, the Nightmare's Vestige. Julius kills the Taratects then manages to kill the Vestige with his team, but as they leave Julius cannot escape the feeling the Vestige was actually afraid of something else they failed to see. Elsewhere, a <Demon Lord> is revealed to have been watching the Vestige which had betrayed her and needed punishing. Shun's popularity grows due to Julius' victory, making Hugo even more jealous.

Shun, Fei, and Katia talk about their classmates with Ms. Oka, who reveals that, excluding the six at the academy, eleven have been taken into custody by the elves, two more have just been found, four have been confirmed dead, and three are still missing. During an excursion to the mountains, Shun is attacked by Hugo, who reveals he intends to kill all the students and blame it on a monster attack. However, in the end, Ms. Oka intervenes and defeats Hugo before using an unknown skill to strip him of his abilities. Meanwhile, Nameless is satisfied with her progress but comments her disappointment at there being no evolution for her maxed-out Appraisal skill. Just then, she receives a message that a person called Administrator D received her complaint and crafted a <Wisdom> skill for her. However, this leaves Nameless terrified, as it implies there is a god-like being watching her every move. Back at the academy, Hugo vows vengeance against Shun and Ms. Oka when he is approached by a girl claiming to be one of the missing reincarnations, who offers her assistance.

As they are both princes Hugo's attempt to kill Shun is covered up so it doesn't start a war between their two kingdoms. Shun reminisces about his life in Japan when they were all good friends when Hugo was egotistical but harmless. He also remembers the class loner, Hiiro, being bullied by Fei. They confront Oka about her refusing to discuss the dead or missing reincarnations and ask about Hiiro. Nameless learns her second mind has been spending time learning magical theory, allowing her to begin using actual magic. While arguing with her second self her <Dual Perception> levels up again, granting her three minds instead of two, and decides her third mind will focus exclusively on learning magic while she and her second mind focus on staying alive and leveling up. She is attacked by an injured Fire Dragon who is still stronger and faster than her. Attempting to poison it she crafts a magic poison bomb, but before she can shoot it into the dragon's mouth, it is blown away by a fireball, though the rapid communication she carries out with her three minds unlocks the fourth mind. Trapped and unable to dodge the dragon unleashes a giant fireball at her. Ms. Oka informs Shun that Hiiro is dead.

Julius visits the Academy to tell Shun and Sue the Demons are mobilizing for war and he is being sent to the front lines. Meanwhile, it is revealed that the Nameless that dragon killed was an illusion. With help from all four of her minds, she then successfully cast <Abyss Magic> to kill the dragon. However, she is then confronted by a mysterious man with administrative privileges who sensed the dragon's death. As they fail to communicate due to a language barrier, a smartphone suddenly appears out of nowhere. The caller then converses with the mysterious man, who leaves, before addressing Nameless and introducing herself as D. Realizing she has been watching her, Nameless asks what D wants to which she answers it is just entertainment and ends the call before Nameless could ask further. In the Demon Realm, the Demon Lord holds council with her generals and declares war on humanity. Back at the academy, Shun suddenly unlocks the <Hero> title, which can only mean one thing: Julius has been killed!

Note: It is revealed in this episode that Nameless's storyline takes place fifteen years before that of the other classmates.

While wandering around wondering about D, Nameless finds a route back to the upper-stratum. In the present, Shun meets with the royal family to discuss his new role and it is decided he must quit the academy to take over as the Hero immediately. Elsewhere, at the remains of the battlefield between the humans and demons, the magician Ronandt, Julius’ former magic tutor, is angered over the loss of life and ends up recounting how, 15 years ago, he and a team of soldiers entered a labyrinth to investigate a monster outbreak. They discovered that the cause was a Taratect scaring away all the other monsters and a battle ensued which left Ronandt and fellow mage Buirimus as the sole survivors. Having received news that a Queen Teratect appeared on a battlefield, Ronandt suspects it might be connected to that Zoe Ela. Back in the past, it is revealed that the Taratect was, in fact, Nameless, who uses the gathered EXP to evolve yet again. However, this also causes her Taboo skill to reach max level, and she passes out.

As Shun feels uneasy about replacing Julius as the Hero, Fei convinces him to form a pact with her, enabling him to summon her if he is in danger. However, this causes Fei to evolve and revert into an egg while the process is underway. Shun later meets with Hyrince, the only survivor of Julius' party, and he explains they were all killed by a mysterious girl in white, with him only surviving because Julius gave him his own revival item. Shun does not blame Hyrince and takes him as a new teammate. Back in the past, due to Taboo reaching level 10, Nameless starts getting visions that the world is heading toward an apocalypse but struggles to make sense of it all. Concluding she needs to get stronger and save the world, Nameless decides to challenge Araba and begins relentlessly leveling up by clearing out monsters that might get in the way. In the end, she finishes her preparations just as Araba arrives to confront her.

Nameless and Araba find themselves evenly matched, but she is able to turn the tide in her favor by trapping the earth dragon in a web she prepared beforehand. However, Araba then uses all its saved-up skill points to acquire abilities Nameless is weak against. Finding herself increasingly cornered, Nameless briefly considers giving up but ultimately revolves to fight to the end. Just as Araba is about to finish her off, however, the earth dragon suddenly collapses. It is then revealed Nameless knew she could not win head-on, so she instead used a skill she acquired beforehand to drain Araba's stamina until it succumbed to exhaustion. Victorious, Nameless is about to deliver the killing blow when Araba stops resisting, satisfied with their battle. This angers her and she kills the dragon but is left feeling hollow. In the present, the Demon Lord reminisces about the time she fought an earth dragon while Shun vows to avenge Julius, unaware that Hugo is plotting against him. Back in the past, Nameless finally finds a way out of the labyrinth by following a tracking spell she placed on the humans from earlier.

After defeating some humans guarding the labyrinth's exit, Nameless finally enters the outside world. Wanting some way to communicate with humans, she makes her new goal to evolve into an <Arachne>, a half-human/half-spider monster, when she suddenly receives a telepathic message from her mother ordering her to return to the labyrinth, which she ignores. In the present, Shun and his family meet the elven chief, Potimas, who reveals negotiations with the demons have stopped ever since the current Demon Lord's ascension and warns Shun not to trust the church. Meanwhile, at the academy, Katia and Sue worry about Shun when they are kidnapped by Hugo. Back in the past, Nameless's mother is angered by her disobedience and sends an army of spider monsters to bring her back. However, she defeats most of them with ease before teleporting the remaining ones to the middle-stratum, killing them with heat. Her mother then once again tries to control her, prompting her to send her parallel minds through their psychic link and attack her mind. Returning to the present, it's revealed Hugo is working with Shun's older half-brother Cylis.

Nameless comes across a carriage being attacked by bandits and comes to their aid. However, after defeating the attackers, she notices one of the occupants, a vampire baby named Sophia, is a fellow reincarnation. Jealous of how easy she has it, Nameless departs but then notices a group of elves planning to kidnap the baby. So she disposes of them as well. In the present, Sue suddenly kills her father, the king, and frames Shun. Cylis and Hugo then arrest him and explain that the king was going to make Shun his successor to keep him off the battlefield, so they cooperated to launch this coup d'etat. However, Shun manages to escape with help from Ms. Oka and Hyrince, his maid Anna, and brother Leston. While recuperating, however, they are attacked by a group led by Hugo's reincarnation ally, who's revealed to be Sophia, and Katia, who has been brainwashed. While they are able to free Katia, Sophia and her assailants overwhelm them until Fei, who has evolved into a huge light dragon, arrives and they all escape on her back. Afterward, Sophia telepathically informs the Demon Lord that she completed her mission.

As Nameless's parallel minds eat way at her mother's mind, they find that they have been locked in as she suddenly makes her way out of the labyrinth to pursue Nameless herself. Finding herself completely outmatched, Nameless teleports back to her nest in the labyrinth but is ambushed by more Taratects. She tries to flee but is stopped by a Puppet Taratect - a small spider monster that operates a human-sized mannequin. Driven into a corner, she finally turns the tide by killing one and leveling up, which fully heals her, before teleporting herself and the remaining ones to the lava floor, where they die from the heat. Afterward, having reached her level-cap, Nameless evolves yet again. In the present, Ms. Oka informs Shun and the others that Hugo is planning to attack the Elf Village, so they decide to head there to stop him, except for Leston who opts to stay behind to deal with the kingdom's current situation. However, this journey will take them through the very same labyrinth that once housed Nameless.

Following her latest evolution, Nameless discovers she now has a <Immortality> skill. She is then contacted by D, who congratulates her for being the first to reach this species and reveals why she and the other classmates were reincarnated before departing: D did it as an apology as the explosion that killed everyone was actually an attempt on her life by a previous Hero and Demon King, revealing she is one of the classmates. In the present, Shun's party has reached the labyrinth, where they recruit a guide named Basgath to lead them through it and Fei reveals she can now assume a human form. Because Hugo's imperial army is guarding the entrance, the guide sneaks them in through an undersea entrance, despite some trouble with a water dragon. Back in the past, Nameless has reached the sea where, after having her own water dragon encounter, she gets an idea. Rechallenging the Puppet Teratect, she kills it by flooding the cave with water before retreating back outside. However, just then, she is suddenly ambushed by the Demon Lord, the Origin Teratect Ariel, who immediately blasts her body to pieces.

In the Demon Realm, Ariel prepares to attack the Elf Village. Meanwhile, Shun's party camps out whilst traversing the labyrinth. Unable to sleep, Shun is told by Basgath about how he once encountered Nameless, who is now known as the "Nightmare of the Labyrinth". Finding themselves at a crossroads, with time being of the essence, the group opts to follow a short but dangerous route through the Nightmare's former home. This leads to them being attacked by an earth dragon but they are able to beat it. However, they are then confronted by a swarm of "Nightmare's vestiges", spider-type monsters said to be the Nighmare's offspring. Strangely, though, upon realizing Shun and co. are reincarnations, the creatures let them pass. The group then finally exists the labyrinth by flying through an opening on the back of Fei's dragon form. In the past, Nameless is revealed to have survived through her <Immortality> but ponders that she must tread carefully as there exists magic that can kill even immortals. Elsewhere, Ariel furiously realizes that Nameless is alive when one of her parallel minds uses her link with "mother" to attack her mind.

Nameless finds herself near Sophia's hometown, which is once again being targeted by elves. In the present, Shun's party travels through that same town. While there, they learn of the animosity between the world's two dominant religions, the Word of God church and Goddess Religion, and Ms. Oka reveals Hugo has likely brainwashed the heads of the church, causing Shun to resolve they must defeat him. Back in the past, Nameless kills the elves trying to abduct Sophia along with anyone suspicious. This draws the attention of Potimas, who fears Ariel and the church might have realized his intentions to gather the reincarnations. The church's pontiff, Dustin, also takes notice but chooses to ignore it as he prepares for war against the Goddess Religion. The townspeople eventually become aware of Nameless as well and believe she is a Divine Beast sent by the Goddess. A mother later brings her sick child to Nameless and begs her to heal him, which she reluctantly does. However, the next day, Nameless finds that word has spread and the entire town has now lined up to be healed by her.

Shun's party finally arrives at the Elf Village where they are shockingly met by Potimas, who they thought had been killed in Hugo's coup. After a night's rest, Ms. Oka leads Shun, Fei, and Katia to the other reincarnations held at the Elf Village. However, whilst sharing a happy reunion, the others reveal that they were, in fact, kidnapped by the elves, causing Shun and co. to grow suspicious. In the past, Sophia's parents receive a demand from the neighboring country to hand over Nameless, which they cannot possibly do. Potimas then arrives, but he ultimately opts to not make a move on Sophia while Nameless is nearby. Sensing her mother is weakened enough, Nameless teleports to her to finally kill her, but severely underestimates her ends up falling into a trap. However, her Parallel Minds then returns to her, transferring all the stats they stole from her mother onto her and allowing her to kill her with ease. Afterward, Ariel finds mother's corpse and swears vengeance before being confronted by an earth dragon who claims it is natural for the elderly to make way for their children, only for her to attack it out of spite.

An envoy from a neighboring kingdom appears before Nameless and declares her their property, but she just finds them annoying and walks away. She is then confronted by the same administrator she met in the labyrinth, who introduces himself as Guliedistodiez and requests her to stop attacking Ariel and interacting with humans. However, she refuses, arguing that she must interfere to prevent the apocalypse. Unfortunately, after Gulie leaves, Nameless is attacked by the envoy's guards, prompting her to kill them in self-defense. However, using the envoy's death as a casus belli, the neighboring country declares war and Nameless decides to face their army herself upon realizing what she has done. In the present, Ms. Oka wonders if she has made the right choices. It is revealed that she has a unique skill called <Student Roster> that tells her the reincarnations' place of birth, health, and how they would die, which prompted her to make a deal with Potimas to effectively imprison them in the Elf Village for their own safety. Meanwhile, Ariel's forces have secretly mixed themselves in with Hugo's army and are using them as cover as they match toward the Elf Village.

While preparing for the upcoming battle, Shun's party is joined by two more of their former classmates, Kunihiko and Asaka, and Ms. Oka tells them the Elves' theory as to why they were reincarnated: The RPG system that governs this world is controlled by beings known as administrators, who feed off the energy of people's skills, and they summoned them to develop powerful skills. She also reveals that Hugo is likely being manipulated by them whilst Sophia serves them willingly. As the group wonders what became of the two reincarnations who are still missing, the entrance to the Elf Village is attacked by one of the said classmates: Sajin, who became a church assassin. After Sajin destroys the entrance and flees, locking everyone inside, the barrier surrounding the village is suddenly destroyed, allowing Hugo's forces to attack. Ms. Oka leads the Elves' counterattack and, having learned from her skill that Hugo is destined to die here, faces him to personally end him. However, while she is able to take out a brainwashed Yuri, Hugo overpowers her with aid from Sophia. Before he can finish her off, however, she is saved by the arrival of Shun and his party.

It is revealed that, after killing the dragon, Ariel's soul merged with Nameless' parallel mind that had previously jumped over to her, causing her to adopt some of the latter's personality traits. However, she still wants revenge and has Guliedistodiez, who came to check on her, teleport her to Nameless' location. As they fight, Ariel uses several skills that prevent Nameless from using magic or teleporting, forcing her to rely on healing herself by leveling up using the EXP gathered from collateral damage just to stay alive. Eventually, their battle is interrupted by a young Julius, causing Ariel to stop out of fear of the secret effect of the <Hero>, which causes them to always win against the <Demon Lord>. However, Ariel is able to distract him before using Abyss magic, which can kill even immortals, to vaporize Nameless. Shun tries to stop Sophia and Wrath but is overpowered and Anna takes a lethal blow for him. Desperate, Shun revives her with a forbidden <Mercy> skill. However, this raises his <Taboo> to level 10, causing him to learn the truth of the world. Seeing an opening, Hugo strikes at Sophia but is knocked unconscious by the woman in white whom Shun and his party recognize as their classmate Wakaba, the nameless spider. In the past, Wakaba survived Ariel's attack by transferring her consciousness into an egg she laid beforehand and hatches as a newborn. She then uses EXP she obtained from the battlefield to evolve into an <Arachne>. Meanwhile, Potimas attacks Sophia's home, kills her parents, and fatally injures the family butler, Merazophis, forcing her to turn him into a vampire. Fortunately, Wakaba arrives and engages Potimas but gets pushed into a corner until Ariel appears and beats him, revealing he was only a mechanical copy. Ariel then calls for a truce to which Wakaba agrees and she, Sophia, and Merazophis all agree to follow her back to Demon Territory. Back in the present, Wakaba's party moves on to defeat Potimas.
