Shemseddin Mervezi

Shemseddin Mervezi (1077-circa 1139, Turkmen: Şemseddin Merwezi) was court astronomer for Sultan Sanjar at Merv. His Star Book was one of the first books to describe the heavens.[1][2]

A statue of Mervezi stands in Inspiration Park in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.[3]
