Roma Asrani

Roma Asrani is an Indian model turned actress who mainly appears in Malayalam-language films.[2] She has starred in over 25 films. She is popularly known mononymously as Romah.

Roma Asrani was born to Sindhi parents in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. She made her début in the Telugu film Mr. Errababu in 2005. She has also acted in Tamil and Kannada films. She got her break through her debut 2006 Malayalam film Notebook. The film was a huge success and her performance was critically acclaimed by both critics and audiences. She received her first Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Notebook.[3] She is best known for her roles in films such as Chocolate (2007), Traffic (2011), Chappa Kurishu (2011), and Grandmaster (2012).

She made her entry into Malayalam films with the movie Notebook, directed by Roshan Andrews, and became very popular after the success of the film. For her performance in Notebook, she was adjudged best newcomer by Asianet Film Awards, Kerala Film Critics Association, Asianet, Amrita TV and Kalakeralam. Her second film, July 4 (2007), directed by Joshiy, was a notable one. Her movie Chocolate (2007) with Prithviraj was a mega hit, and this movie made her the darling of Malayalam cinema. She has also acted in a music album by the band Team Malayalee with popular singer Vineeth Sreenivasan and actor Prithviraj for the number Minnel Azhake, which was a big hit in south India.[4]

Roma has also acted in the Tamil movie Kathale En Kathale (2006). She made her Kannada début with Aramane (2007), starring Ganesh in the lead. Further, she reappeared in the Telugu industry after a break in the movie Chalaki in 2010.
