Rhea Sharma

Rhea Sharma (born 7 August 1995) is an Indian actress who mainly works in Hindi television. She made her acting debut in 2014 with the role of Nishi Khanna in Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar and Priyanka Datar in Badi Door Se Aaye Hain.[1]

Sharma got her breakthrough with Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh, Piyaji where she portrayed Kanak Rathi. In 2019, she played Mishti Agrawal in Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke, which received widespread acclaim and praises. With these roles, she has established herself as one of the most popular television actress.[2]

She made her film debut in 2016 with M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story playing Ritu.

Early life

Sharma was born on 7 August, 1995[3] in Mumbai, Maharashtra to Pawan and Renu Sharma. She completed her graduation from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. She desired to become a journalist in childhood. She is fluent in English, Hindi and Marathi language.

Career

Debut and early roles (2014-2016)

Sharma started her career with acting in TV commercials. She has been part of commercials including VIP Bags, Pantene, Pran Up, Himalaya facewash and Oreo tvc opposite Ranbir Kapoor.

Sharma made her television debut in 2014 portraying Nishi Khanna in Sony TV's Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar opposite Mehul Vyas[4] and Priya Datar in Badi Door Se Aaye Hain. In 2015, she appeared in Yeh Hai Aashiqui Sun Yaar Try Maar as Chandini opposite Darsheel Safary. In 2016, she followed it with the role of Shubhi in Bindass's Yeh Hai Aashiqui opposite Kinshuk Vaidya.

Rhea first lead role came with the portrayal of Gauri Shukla in &TV's Kahani Hamari... Dil Dosti Deewanepan Ki with Karan Wahi. She received praise for her role, but the show ended in a month.[5] She made her Bollywood debut, later in 2016 with Neeraj Pandey's most successful directorial, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, which co-starred Sushant Singh Rajput and Kiara Advani; it featured her as the friend of Dhoni's wife, Ritu.[6]

Breakthrough and success (2017-present)

Sharma got her breakthrough with the leading role of Kanak Rathi in Star Plus's Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh, Piyaji (2017–18) opposite Avinesh Rekhi. She received praises for her role.[7] In 2018, she enacted the episodic role of Komal Mishra in &TV's Laal Ishq opposite Ruslaan Mumtaz and a cameo as Anjali in Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya alongside Vishal Singh.[8]

In 2019, she appeared as the lead Mishti Agarwal/Mishti Abir Rajvansh[9] in Star Plus Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke opposite Shaheer Sheikh. Rhea earned wide recognization and immense praises for her portrayal of Mishti.[10] The show was a huge critical success and gave her much acclaim. She also appeared as Mishti in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and as a guest in Nach Baliye (Season9). Thus, she has established herself as one of the most popular television actress.

In the media

Rhea Sharma is one of the most popular television actress. Her portrayal of Kanak and Mishti, made her popular among the audience. She was named in the Top 50 Sexiest Asian Women List by Eastern Eye in 2019.[11] She also won Social Media Star award in the first edition of News18 India's SBD Stardom awards.[12] She was placed 10th in Biz Asia's TV Personality 2019 List.[13]

She ranked 8th in ICONIC Most Desirable Women List, 2020.[14] In Eastern Eye's Top 50 Asian celebrities of 2020, she was ranked 30th, owing to her popularity after Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke.[15] BizAsiaLive ranked her 5th in the TV Personality 2020 list.[16] In Bollywood Life's #BLBestOf6 poll results, she was declared as the winner after claiming the top spot as Best TV Actress.[17]

In 2021, Sharma ranked 16th in Urban Asian 2021 Top 50 Women of Indian Television.[18] and she was named in Eastern Eye Top 30 under 30 global Asian stars list.[19]
