Reynell Cotton

The Reverend Reynell Cotton (1717–29 October 1779) was president of the Hambledon Club in 1773 and 1774.[1] He is best known for the Hambledon Club Song,[2][3] written in 1767.[4]

Cotton was born in Rudgwick, West Sussex and attended Winchester College. He was the rector of St Lawrence Church, Winchester and founded Hyde Abbey School in the city.[1][2][5]
