Ramdas Ambatkar

Ramdas Ambatkar is an Indian politician belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party. On 24 May 2018, he was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Council by receiving 550 votes, beating his rival Indrakumar Saraf from Indian National Congress, who received 462 votes.[1]

Dr Ramdas Bhagwanji Ambatkar was born in a small village of Wadner,Wardha District Maharashtra on 1 July 1960. Inspired by his father since childhood who worked as a BJP District President for 3 Consecutive Terms and who had deep rooted thoughts and teachings of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) throughout his life. Dr Ramdas decided to devote himself and work for Nation building and serving the people.

While still in school,He Joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the Year 1965 and continued to make his contribution since a child. He became a volunteer of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in the year 1979 in Yavatmal and later continued to work firmly from becoming city general secretary ABVP Yavatmal, executive member of ABVP Vidarbha in 1982, Vistarak of ABVP in 1984 and became a full-time worker of ABVP and was district organising secretary of Amravati District in 1985, He was further promoted to being a member of National executive of ABVP in 1987, Organising secretary Vidarbha region and was involved in development activities.

He completed his high school and later moved to study B.A.M.S from RTM Nagpur University completing his graduation in the year 1985 and later studied B.A Sociology in 1992. He became senate member of RTM Nagpur University in 1995, Member of Standing committee RTM Nagpur University in 2000, He was made member of Management Council of RTM Nagpur University in 2005.

He started his journey of politics after joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the year 2004 as organising secretary of Akola & Amravati District. After Successful expansion of party spheres of western vidarbha in 2006,formulated various policies towards achieveving grand success in 30 assembly segments of western vidarbha and successfully planned and effectively executed the strategies to defeat the most seasoned and veteran leader of Maharashtra Prof.B.T.Deshmukh in the Amravati constituency and that led the victory of Dr.Ranjit Patil.

He was made the General secretary of BJP Maharashtra in 2015 and is currently representing Wardha, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli District as Member of Legislative Council (MLC).
