Counties of Albania
The counties of Albania (Albanian: Qarqet e Shqipërisë) are the largest administrative subdivisions of Albania.[1] The 12 counties are composed of 61 municipalities, which are the basic territorial entities for local administration, consisting of 373 administrative units.

The government structure is based on the 1998 constitution, while the reform was made official on 31 July 2000.[2] The twelve counties replaced the former districts (Rrethe).
