Pugazh (Born Pugazhendhi) is an Indian actor and comedian who works in Tamil film and television industry,[2] known for his "boy next door" charm and comedic talents.

He is a Comali in Cooku with Comali airing on Star Vijay and rose to fame during the first two seasons. He is currently a recurring "Comali" in the latest season 3, He is referred as the Expression King in the show.[3]

Early life

Pugazh was born in Cuddalore, in a middle-class family.[4] His schooling was at St. Joseph Excessive School, Tamil Nadu and consequently Sri Padaleswarar Secondary School in Cuddalore.[1]

Career

Pugazh rose to prominence after featuring in Cooku with Comali.[5] A born actor, he is particularly talented in mimicry and improv comedy. His longterm friend Udhaya Raj of Baana Kaathadi fame helped him audition for Kalakka Povathu Yaaru Season 6, and unfortunately he did not get selected. Pugazh however was undeterred and got a job as a computer serviceman in Vijay TV, making full use of his talents to appear in "Sirippu Da" alongside Dheena. He excelled in playing Anniyan’s role as a lady which attracted the audiences' attention.[6] Following his success in the Kpy Final, he was given the opportunity to participate in Cooku with Comali. He is currently making his mark in mainstream movies.[7]

Acting career

Owing to his success as a "Comali", Pugazh has been offered several films in Tamil cinema with his debut movie Sixer,[8] followed by Cocktail, Kaithi, Sabhaapathy, Enna Solla Pogirai, Valimai and Etharkkum Thunindhavan. His upcoming movies are VJS46,[9] Yaanai,[10]Kasethan Kadavulada.[11]
