He was elected as an MLA from Barhaj constituency in 2012.[1][2] In 2020, the legislator received a 15-year sentence for forgery from an Uttar Pradesh Court. He was found to make a fake will to grab a land of area around 32.5 acre in Sitarganj and transferring the land to his name.[1][3] He was also questioned by Chief Electoral Officer since it was found that he was voting at two distinct locations.
