Pradiphat Road

Pradiphat Road (Thai: ถนนประดิพัทธ์) is a road in Bangkok mainly in Phaya Thai sub-district, Phaya Thai district. Pradiphat is a straight road starting from Saphan Daeng intersection in the area of Thanon Nakhon Chai Si sub-district, Dusit district close to Kiak Kai neighbourhood, where it cuts Rama V, Techa Wanit, Thahan roads and the Saphan Daeng (Daeng bridge) then runs passes northern railway line (between Sam Sen and Bang Sue stations) at Thoet Damri intersection, where it cut with Thoet Damri and Kamphaeng Phet 5 roads then crosses Khlong Prapa (water supply canal) and cuts with Rama VI road beneath expressway (enter Phaya Thai district) as far as end at Saphan Khwai intersection, which it meet Phahonyothin and Saliratthawiphak roads.

The road was originally named "Patiphat Phuban Road" (ถนนปฏิพัทธ์ภูบาล). Pradiphat road is served by bus lines: 3, 67, 90, 97, 117, 524. Saphan Khwai BTS station is about 1.84 km (1.1 mi) east and Kiak Kai pier (N21) of Chao Phraya Express Boat is about 2.03 km (1.3 mi) west.[1]

Pradiphat is one of the oldest streets of Bangkok. Now it's full of shophouses almost the route including hotels, restaurants, cafés, banks and condominiums. Although it is not luxury as other neighbourhoods like Ekkamai or Thong Lo.[2]

During the Vietnam War era (70–60s), this road was very busy especially at night. It was home to several hotels and pubs serving G.I., including the accommodation of these soldiers as well.[3]

Moreover, it is also a historic area. Due to on June 24, 1932 at 5:00 am, it was the place where Phraya Songsuradej met with his conspirators, such as Phraya Phahonphonphayuhasena, Phra Phrasasphithayayut, Luang Phibulsonggram, Luang Thatsanainiyomsuek, Charun Suepsaeng and Thawi Bunyaket etc., at the intersect with the northern railway line (presently Thoet Damri intersection) to final explain of the revolutionary plan (Siamese revolution of 1932), before they going to a nearby 1st Cavalry Regiment, King's Guard as planned. Since it's only 200 m (656.2 ft) from his house.
