Phipps Bend Nuclear Plant
Phipps Bend Nuclear Plant is a cancelled nuclear power plant of the Tennessee Valley Authority. The Tennessee Valley Authority board voted on August 6th, 1981,[1] to defer construction of this power plant in Surgoinsville. Construction never resumed, the project canceled in 1982 due to lower load growth than forecast.[2] A 1 MW solar farm was built at the site in 2017.[3]
