Pelham Horton Box
Pelham Horton Box (1898–1937) was a British historian[1][2] whose primary work focused on the Paraguayan War of the 1860's and the claim that the war was started due to Francisco Solano López being angered first by criticism of the press against him and then further instigated by insults from Uruguay. Though this reasoning of the historical background has been negatively critiqued by later historians.[3] His 1929 book on the subject was described by Leslie Bethell as a "useful but traditional (predominantly diplomatic) account" of the war.[4]
