Parviz Iskenderov

Parviz Iskenderov (born March 25, 1987), is a Belarus-born Australian super lightweight Muay Thai kickboxer, [1] journalist, editor at Fightmag, [2] and the World Kickboxing Network coordinator for Australia. [3] He is distinguished being active in three different fields of one industry (combat sports) in the same time.

Sports career

Starting training from a very young age, Iskenderov has been successful, multiple times winning Belarus national championships in kickboxing and Muay Thai. In 2001 he represented the country at IFMA European Cup in Odessa, Ukraine earning Silver. [4] Competing internationally, he appeared on Australian ring for the first time in 2006. [5] [6]

In March 2009 Iskenderov has been a member of Australian national team, representing the country at the 6th WMF Muay Thai World Championships held in Bangkok, Thailand. [7] [8]

On October 13, 2012 Iskenderov defeated Matt Evans via a unanimous decision at Epic 7 in Perth, WA. [9] [10] On November 16, 2013 Iskenderov defeated Alex Job by the fifth-round knockout with head kick at Nemesis 7 at Kingsway Stadium, Madeley, WA. [11] On April 12, 2014 Iskenderov defeated Australian champion out of New South Wales Gary Patterson via a unanimous decision at Nemesis 8 at Kingsway Stadium, Madeley, WA. [12] [13]

On May 23, 2015 Iskenderov defeated a highly regarded Mark Sarracino of Queensland via TKO in Round 2 with elbow at Nemesis 10 at Kingsway Stadium, Madeley, WA. [14] [15] [16] [17] [18]

On December 11, 2015 Iskenderov defeated Tyler Hardcastle by KO in Round 1 with left body kick at Thunderdome XIII at Metro City in Perth, WA. [19] The bout was a rematch with Hardcastle winning the first encounter by decision on October 21, 2015 in the co-main event of Epic 14 at Herb Graham Recreation Centre, Mirrabooka, WA. [20]

By 2016 Iskenderov qualified for the WKN Australian national title challenge. [21] [22] On May 21, 2016 representing Western Australia Iskenderov challenged for the WKN Australian super lightweight Muay Thai championship facing a defeat against Chad Collins of Queensland at a Pay-Per-View event Nemesis 11 Perth at Kingsway Stadium, Madeley, WA, televised on FOX Sports Australia. On December 11, 2009 Iskenderov has been appointed as the WKN official coordinator for Australia. The WKN World President Stephane Cabrera respectfully acknowledges him as his right hand in Australia. [26] Iskenderov has coordinated and supervised some of the biggest Muay Thai events, furthermore the World Championship bouts ever held in Australia.

In 2010 Iskenderov coordinated a vacant WKN World super welterweight Muay Thai championship between John Wayne Parr and Dmitry Valent [27] ,[28] and the vacant WKN World heavyweight Muay Thai championship between Nathan Corbett and Pavel Zhuravlev. [29]

In 2012 Iskenderov supervised numerous FOX Sports televised WKN National championship events in Sydney, Melbourne and Gold Coast. [30]

On April 7, 2012 Iskenderov supervised the WKN World heavyweight Muay Thai championship between the champion Nathan Corbett and the challenger Stephane Susperregui; and a vacant WKN World welterweight Muay Thai title challenge between Frank Giorgi and Tobias Alexandersson, promoted at Total Carnage Fight Night on the Gold Coast, Qld. Iskenderov also appears as one of the key characters in promoting a new generation of Australian Muay Thai fighters and kickboxers internationally. [34] He has managed numerous athletes, including the WKN World super middleweight title challenger Rob Powdrill for his 2012 bout against Francis Tavares in Agde, France. [35]

In September 2015 Iskenderov has managed a six-member WKN Top Team representing Australia at the international event "Circle" held in Barcelona, Spain. A former WKN World lightweight muaythai champion Michael Thompson of Queensland, a former WKN World super middleweight title contender Rob Powdrill of WA, among others, participated in the event under the patronage of Iskenderov. On June 2, 2018 Iskenderov supervised WKN World Middleweight championship bout between Australian Toby Smith and English Sam Gough which headlined Domination Muay Thai 20 held in Perth, Australia.[38][39]

On May 25, 2018 Iskenderov supervised WKN World Super Heavyweight championship between Polish Tomasz Sarara and Slovakian Tomas Mozny, which was featured on the card at Boxing Night 14 held at National Stadium Warsaw in Warsaw, Poland live on TVP Sport.[40][41][42]

Fightmag

In 2005 together with Stephane Cabrera Iskenderov has created an online magazine Fightmag. [43] Since 2006 he is an editor and journalist at the publication. [44] In 2009 he made a debut release dedicated to Australia. [45] By 2011 he developed the publication internationally, and it is known outside the country. [46] [47] By 2016 Iskenderov has built and leads the team of authors that comprises predominantly athletes, including such kickboxers and boxers as Nathan Corbett and Daniel Dawson. [48] Fightmag has been cited in the FightBox HD in which it was called "a leading online fight magazine out of Australia". [49] On March 18, 2019 it was announced via Twitter that Fightmag HQ relocated from Perth, WA to Melbourne, VIC.[50]
