Pandlr

Pandlr emerged in 2005 as Jovem Pan community in Orkut, dedicated to Jovem Pan Radio. With the end of Orkut in 2014, the community stopped using the name Jovem Pan and went through sites like Grupia, Yoble and VK, but only has received a own website in March 2015, which stopped being just a general pop culture forum to become a social network, being renamed to Pandlr.[3] The website became popular on the Brazilian internet for creating various memes in GIF format, like those of the singer Gretchen.[4] In 2017, Pandlr gained Brazilian and international media attention after a forum member created several GIFs of the character Cuca, from the Brazilian television series Sítio do Picapau Amarelo, which went viral and became memes.[5][6] The newspapers The South African and Highsnobiety considered the memes created in Pandlr as one of the bests of that year.[7][8] In 2018, the forum became involved in a controversy with the rapper Azealia Banks, after Pandlr's Twitter profile say that Banks "is very unprepared for the music industry, despite having talent".[9] In February 2018, the forum gained more media attention when it spread a rumor that singer Selena Gomez would have been invited to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show in the following year.[2][10][11]

The forum started to present itself as problematic with racist and pedophile members, and also became involved in other controversies such as the case of the comedian Pequena Lô. In messages the members wished for her to die and be raped.[12]Another common case was with Twitter instagram content creators such as Levi Kaique where he claimed on his Twitter profile that members were attacking him with racism.[13] The journalist Winnie Buenno was also a victim of racial attacks, accused of kidnapping the children of Belford Roxo and using them in activities of African religions.[14]

• Sônia Pop - Sônia Pop is one of the most famous on orkut, due to her old age and her polemics with Black people. She has been banned from the forum more than 45 times and has always returned worse than before.[15] Despite her peculiarities with Black people, she made several catchphrases that spread throughout the country such as "doll" and "fada" ("fairie). These adjectives, originally referring to Britney Spears, her idol, reached Twitter and spread in such a hyper way to Big Brother Brazil. This catchphrase "fada" being used by singer Manu Gavassi and nicknamed "Fada Sensata" ("Sensible Fairy").[16] Sônia also left a legacy, despite being an unpalatable person, as a "beirada" or "edge" where one cannot go directly into racism. For forum members, if she wants to commit racism, she needs to make indirect jokes, by the "edge" and not go in the "recheio" or "filling", as they usually say. The term is now used directly for people who commit the crime of racism.[17]

• Bruguelo (Junior Quinto) - The Bruguelo case shocked the site after a fact-finding by member Dravo investigated that the member in question used the same email "JuniorQuinto" on erotic stories websites. On these websites he reported how he sexually abused his niece. The same member used the email address on the pandlr website. The name "Bruguelo" ended up becoming synonymous with pedophile members on the site, when they comment on something about minors.[18]

• Jesus Paradiso - It is a member known for being so cute that the other members either love or hate him. He has a sense of humor like no one else, and people usually envy his intelligence. Also, he is super creative and very charismatic. He loves anime, music and video games.[19]

• Vinizinho - Also known as Vini Fletcher, is a member born in Colombia and is known for his sarcastic sense of humour and for being a troll. The other members usually refer him as a minor's abuser, but it is usually just to make fun of him. There was one time when he made a video crying about his mother's death, then made an orange called Dr Eggman, where he pretended to be obsessed with Britney Spears' children. Forum administrator Astar exposed him and took this orange for himself, pretending he was actually the true Dr Eggman. Nowadays, Vinizinho just acts normally and trolls with others as usual.[20]
