Old Monk (film)

Old Monk[1] is a 2022 Indian Kannada-language romantic comedy film written and directed by MG Srinivas.[2] featuring MG Srinivas, Aditi Prabhudeva[3][4] in lead role. Movie title inspired from the popular alcohol beverage brand, and it also means "Hale Sanyasi" in Kannada.[5] Veteran actor Rajesh play special cameo appearance in movie and it mark it his acting role before demise in February 2022.[6] film released on 25 February 2022 simultaneously in Kannada and Telugu language.[7]

Critics praised the direction, comedy, writing, dialogue and performance.[8][9] Music Director duo Saurabh- Vaibhav collaborate second time with Srini after Birbal, are one of the producers of the movie.[10]

Premise

Narada is cursed and banished to earth by Lord Krishna after he creates a quarrel between Krishna and Rukmini. The only way he can redeem himself is by getting marries the he loves in earth. Now, Narada, christened as Appanna, is born into a family that only believes in arranged marriage and he has no chance of finding love with his father playing the villain. When he does find an interest, there are many hurdles.

All songs were composed by Saurabh Vaibhav. and released under the label of Anand Audio.[14] In "Old is Goldu " song penned and sung by Gubbi, song used to pay tribute to famous cult movies using photoshopped poster.[15]

Release

Movie release postponed several times due covid-19 pandemic.

Director Srini announced that new releasing date for movie which suitable to avoid clash with other films and based on Government decision to allow 100% occupation, post pandemic.[16] film released on 25 February 2022 simultaneously in Kannada and Telugu language.[7]
