Mumba Malila

Mumba Malila (born 16 April 1964) is a Zambian Supreme Court Judge serving as the 9th Chief Justice of independent Zambia. He was appointed Chief Justice by President Hakainde Hichilema in 2021.[1][2][3][4] Prior to his appointment, Malila was a Supreme Court Judge having been appointed by President Michael Sata directly to that position from being the Zambian Attorney General[5][6] a post he held for the second time betwen 2011 to 2014. Malila had first held the position of Attorney General of Zambia between 2006 and 2009 serving under Presidents Levy Mwanawasa and Rupiah Banda. He had previously saved as the Chairperson of the Zambian Human Rights Commission and as a Commissioner on the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and its Vice Chairperson from October 2006 to November 2011.[7]
