Chūsha of the Togakushi Shrine
Mount Togakushi has traditionally been included in the Five Mountains of Northern Shinshu. It is now also part of the newly established Myōkō-Togakushi Renzan National Park.[1] At its base are located the five Shintoist shrines (Okusha, Chūsha, Hōkōsha, Kuzuryūsha, and Hinomikosha) of the Togakushi Shrine.[2][3]
Historically, Mount Togakushi, like Mount Iizuna nearby, has been a sacred site for mountain-based religious sects, generally called Shugendo.[4]
