Mailon Rivera
Mailon Rivera is a New York City native actor, creative producer and impact investor in multiple social and world equity developments. He's starred roles in films such as Midnight Blue and Skin Deep and guest appearances on over 35 top rated television shows. He is known for his role as Nation of Islam leader, Min. Xavier Salaam on the Golden Globe and Emmy Award winning drama series The Shield, Omar K. Bone in the UPN comedy series Second Time Around, and many guest starring television appearances.
Mailon's civic activism began as a member of the NYC Guardian Angels at the height of the crime-ridden 1980's.
In 1989, Mailon was the named the winner of the very first "Faces Going Places" model competition in New York City produced by Dee Simmons-Edelstein and the Grace Del Marco Agency, the oldest talent agency for models of color founded in 1946 by pioneering fashion model Ophelia DeVore. He won "Best Male" and "Most Talented", and a contract with agency.
He was the creator and primary director of the “Native Dance Actors Series”, an advanced actors scene study workshop produced while working at Emmy-award winning casting office of Robi Reed.
In 2004, Mailon was named Artistic Director of the 4305 Village Theater in the historic Leimert Park section of Los Angeles.
Mailon is the subject of a book titled “A Random Life: From Homeless to…?” which deals with his experiences as a foster child and homeless teen in NYC’s Times Square. This book is currently being written with J.M. Morris.
